Mudra

So far, these are the main means I have found for facilitating the flow of the energy called prana or qi (chi). There may be more, and I would be glad to know of the ones you are aware of. This comes from someone who has no practice or teacher and is from a Western perspective. I used the simplest of methods and listened to my inner guidance that came as the river of light opened more and more within me. The one observation I have made after raising kundalini was that all of this is not difficult, and nor should it be hard to understand. All of this is about being human. Do not attempt raising kundalini without adequate preparation, however. Learning the art of surrender is one very important prerequisite. The main ways of facilitating the flow of prana:

  • Quieting the mind
  • Feeling
  • Breathwork
  • Movement

Quieting the Mind

This is not as simple as it seems. One goal of meditation is to quiet the mind, but as is often the case, we sit for some time waiting for all of our thoughts from the day to settle before we can begin the innermost work that meditation can bring us to. And then, once the thoughts do settle, what is the point? It has been known that when we quiet the mind enough, there is something that arises from the substratum of consciousness that can begin to show us clues to the deeper nature of consciousness as energy. Thus, as a result, for as simple as it is, meditation has been used by many cultures as the way to get to this point where the normal “monkey mind” is stilled. This takes work. It takes discipline. It is very helpful to do meditation the same time of the day each day if possible. I always meditated before bedtime because that was when the house was its most quiet and I was able to drop into a much quieter relaxed state. In the East, early morning (say, 4:00 a.m. for example) is often chosen as a good time to meditate because the body is not busy with digestion, and the mind is quiet from having been in sleep for a number of hours. By having a schedule your mind will be able to go into a quiet state must faster. Many years ago I practiced projection of consciousness and I was able to have some limited success with it. I practiced this each night as I went to bed. I was able to go immediately into an altered state and then “switch on” the astral state automatically whereby my astral awareness came to the fore. Before this, it took months to develop this state. My brain and body had become trained and it seemed to know that when I directed my attention along certain lines, it would follow along much quicker. Meditation is the same thing. If you train yourself through practice to reach a certain state with regularity, it becomes a snap to go into that state later once it has been practiced. The benefit of meditation as it relates to prana or chi is that you can begin to become familiar with the energy. By simply watching it or observing it you can find that it reacts simply to your act of observation. It is also possible to inhibit it as well, depending on how you respond to this activity. The best way is to try it. Prana will feel like the tide or flow upon which your consciousness moves, so they are very closely bound or connected. Feel “below” the thought to what is supporting your thought. What is it that is animating it? What is that quality that is making me alive, vital, and that gives my consciousness this presence and vitality?

It can often help to quiet the mind by keeping it busy with something else. I found a meditation technique very helpful in this regard where I placed my hands together and then put all of my awareness on the point where my hands touched. I held my attention there as long as possible. If my mind wandered, I didn’t beat myself up, I just went back to imagining I was looking at the point between my hands. I put myself there between them. After a while, I found that I had this very open and vast state begin to open up within me. It came about not by focusing on how it was happening. Being aware that it was happening using the “I” awareness caused it to stop immediately. It was at first a very odd sort of state I was reaching, but it was a prelude to a full blown awakening. It was very similar to never focusing on anything in particular when you are using your eye, except in this case it is your inner attention. There is a defocusing that seems to be happening in this other state. If you begin to focus on anything, becoming self-conscious, anything that was happening would immediately stop. I was dragging in my sharp focus of ego-awareness (left brain activity) into a state that was much more broadly “focused.” The usual way just didn’t work. The wave of cosmic consciousness would collaps and I would be left grasping at straws. Over time I found that a lot of energetic phenomenon began to happen once I entered into this defocused state, along with suddenly being suffused in a brilliant white light. After that encounter with the white light, things began to change. I began having more and more prana-based events, and not all were known to have been prana at the time. But being able to enter into what is called a state of “presence” helps to still mind by training the mind to be more and more quiet. This could take a good deal of time to achieve even moments of silence or relative quiet, but the brain will learn to fall into a meditative state when you train it through repetition, and then it will be easier each time. The point is not to do anything when there, the point is to feel and to be aware of the energy that is present in you. It is possible to train the mind/brain to enter a deep state through just about any trigger, really. It is all about association and the mind needs that association to remind it where it needs to be. Sitting in a certain posture can do it, even. Music or a certain song can also do it. Routine.

Feeling

Feeling is the other side of the coin. It is also the one aspect that gets discounted the quickest by most folks. Prana is an intelligent energy and it communicates through feeling as does the intelligence of the cosmos. It is the rational mind that then takes the stream of information and assembles it. This is also how remote viewing works, by the way. So much of our capacity to feel, which is an important part of our capacity for awareness, can be hijacked by a rogues gallery of buried emotional material that can crowd out deeper feeling into the flow of prana. Pick something that inspires you, and there you will find your prana being released. It doesn’t matter what it is, but most often it will be something that makes you feel good in an authentic way, that makes you open up as you feel more and more expansive. Does a painting do that? Music? A certain line of thought? Thinking of someone you love also opens up channels for prana. Watch yourself when you feel this energy. Do you feel how effortless it is when it begins to move? That is its secret. Prana flows naturally and does not flow as well when we shut down. It Prana shuts down when we are self-conscious and opens up when we aren’t. Just don’t try and force it, just be present with it, watch it and learn what you are thinking and feeling when it does flow. Can you feel how different those two states are? In one state the valve is closed down and in the other it is open wide. You might think that there are all kinds of technical diagrams that you have to memorize, but no, it is much simpler than this, so simple a child can do it (and children do this naturally as they are less shut down). Walks in nature, the beach, your favorite places. Can you feel that shot of energy that goes from your pelvis up into your heart? That is prana moving. You can learn all about prana by learning to be exuberant. Gratitude does more to boost prana than any special meditation technique. You see, while you can focus prana with thought, prana responds to how you choose to feel in the moment. This is amazingly simple, and hopeful.

It is true that one reaches the highest state in samadhi through feeling. It is less what you do than what you don’t do. Any wonder why it is so hard to reach? Also, it is a unitary state that sparks kundalini awakening. This unitary state is where the two sides of the self come into unity and spark the generative force to move through the body, no longer “stored” in the base of the spine. People have spent decades studying it and attempting to get it to rise. The secret is that it is how you feel. Feeling moves the two opposites together so that nothing can stand before what it can do when joined together. Much of what kundalini has to teach you will be based less in rational thinking as your capacity to feel and then release stored emotion from the past (which kundalini does in its process of cleansing). This is not a rational process. Placing your hands together like I explained earlier is a form of this unitary state, and is a good start for being able to feel what energy does in your body. But do not play with trying to raise kundalini. Once it rises you are on a roller coaster. Learning the art of surrender is of singular importance. Whatever kundalini strips from you will be what does not serve you. People can “lose it” in a process like this, especially those with little appreciation for or understanding of how to work with this energy instead of against it. It is a great disrupter, all for the better in the end, but you need to ask yourself if you are up to the task, which will be life-consuming.

Breathwork

It is often said that prana is in the air. I find this a little funny because when tracing this down I see that people who say this go on to explain that when you breathe in the air, you can feel the energy. In my study I found that there is something about the act of breathing itself that is actually the thing that is stimulating prana. If you quiet your mind and settle in and take long slow breaths, holding them at the top and bottom of each inhale and exhale, you might find that your body begins to feel buoyant, calm, peaceful, and lovely….blissful, even. I sense that when we breathe like this we are telling the mind that we are calm and the mind and brain work like a loyal servant and begin putting out the chemistry of calm and bliss. Learning to keep the mind still and not running lots of thoughts, will make your ability to feel this energy beneath all of this easier to perceive.

Breathwork has evolved into a complex science in India with the practice of pranayama. You can hold breath and still the movement of prana. You can move prana through breathwork, too. The best way to be aware of how it can move in you is to do the simple types of breath exercises first to see how well this can work. You can wind up feeling so good sometimes that it can further train your mind to prefer those states where you can learn how to be much more simple minded, or single-minded. Again, this is not complicated. Keeping your field of awareness quiet and still might be the hard part. But this is something achieved through feeling, wanting that feeling more than you want to grab onto a thought. Don’t beat yourself up when your mind races ahead. It is natural. Bring it back, each time you teach yourself to be calm and quiet for a few moments longer. Moments turn to minutes, minutes can stretch into half an hour. Breathing has the power to quiet the mind and help you to forget the worries of the day. What I found and which was supported by the science on the parasympathetic nervous system is that when you breathe like you do when in a relaxed state, like sleep, this sends s signal to your brain and body that you are calm. You can sometimes even feel the shift or change in your physiology as you do this. Full and deep breaths with pauses at the top and bottom are veryeffective in calming yourself down and slow the monkey-mind. I have had students use breath work to calm down and to stop feeling stressed. it is not uncommon for breathe work to be so effective that within minutes of doing so when stressed, you forget what you were even worried about earlier. A different part of the mind is now being used instead of the part that “grinds” away at the things that you cannot control.

Another very effective form of breathing is alternating nostril breathing. You begin by holding one nostril closed while taking a long deliberate breath in, holding it for the count of three, and then exhaling. You can then close the other nostril and then do the same type of deep deliberate breath the same way. You can also take several breaths with on nostril closed and then alternate to the other nostril, making sure that you keep the number of breaths through each nostril balanced. You can begin to meditate, turning inward using breath work. Use it for as long as you need to reach deeper and deeper states of calm. Then, the only thing you will have to guard against is falling asleep! But what is the harm in doing that? None. Perhaps you need sleep. Try again the next day or next time and don’t beat yourself up about it. Eventually, you will be able to cultivate this quiet calm while being alert. Again, it is all conditioning. Like a body builder, this takes time and discipline. If you fell asleep in meditation, try next time to be as relaxed but try not to fall asleep. It is being alert but not busy in the mind. It is at this place, as you meditate, that you begin to feel your energy. It is really just that simple, because it is at this place where you can begin getting aquianted with your true nature.

Movement

How you move can help to open you to prana. Sitting in rigid postures will be less effective as more opening postures. How you move through space can have an effect on your awareness of prana flow. Ecstatic dance or any movement that feels particularly good to you will work. Prana responds to thought. Thinking that is hard and harsh will wash away a lot of the flow of prana. That said, intense emotion can release prana, too, but the emotion itself may be shaping the prana into forms that may feel less natural or organic. Many of the Chinese disciplines of Tai Chi and Chi Gung (also chigong) are designed to move prana or chi in the body, although tai chi is often described as more of an exercise using mindfulness over energy movement). It can release trapped emotion and it can also free up energy in the body. All good things.

Chigong works by focusing movement with attention on different areas of the body in a routine that seeks to open up awareness and the energy in each major part of the body. Energy goes where your attention is, and this discipline focuses it through movement as the hands move through the energy field and are used in a way that places or focuses energy in some areas and then others. Your mind follows the movements while having very little happening with the mind. It is cool trick. White Crane qigong is a very good system to follow and you might be surprised at how it helps you to feel. The movements are slow, meditative, and purposeful. There is an order and purpose to all of the moves since each move works on one area of the qi field. Like making sure you alternate nostril breathing in a balanced way as I told you earlier, the series of movements in a “set” is important to follow.

Qigong is itself like a moving meditation. It is good to do chigong with a teacher who understands what is being achieved for each movement so they can explain what the point is, but you can also follow along watching a video of a qigong practitioner. Is there magic in getting the moves exactly right? This is a system developed over centuries. Estimates place the age of qigong as being anywhere from 5-7,000 years old. Qigong stimulates the same points in the body that acupressure and acupuncture also stimulate. Qigong masters were often great healers as well.

In similar but different ways, yoga does achieve some similar results even though it is from a different tradition. The idea of bringing mind and body together is an important first step in any inner practice. Many of the stomach pumps that yogis do help to open up blocked energy in the body, for example. Also, by focusing on your body movement the mind is naturally quieter, so movement in this way has a great benefit in this regard. Over time as you become more and more aware of the flow of prana in the body, by placing different fingers into position with your thumb, you can often sense if you are sensitive enough (quiet mind), how those finger positions can route energy through your body in different ways. These positions are called mudras and each one achieves a different result. I can remember the point where I tried mudras at a time when my mind was quiet enough and I could feel the difference in the flow of energy. It was very much like how one might direct the flow of water to different parts of the body. Most often, when my mind is very busy, I cannot feel this flow of energy with the change of each mudra. I need myself to be very attentive, mindful, and quiet.

Finally, having your body worked on by a body worker who understands energy is another way to free up prana flow. Acupuncture achieves this, and deep tissue massage also does this. Observe how you feel after a good session with an acupuncture practitioner or a message therapist. You know how “out of it” that you feel? That feeling is what happens when prana is opened up in the body. The more this happens, the more effect that it can have on your consciousness. This state is excellent for meditation work, too. You can also learn or identify this “out of it” state this way and then look for it in meditation work. The problem is not feeling “out of it” but being in too focused of a state, having to do with the rational mind. It is precisely these parts of the mind that are best able to relate to energetic effects and that part is also the feeling side. Are you getting it? I tend to think that most people are naturally inoculated against feeling this way because it goes against the active “doer” that is seeded into the Western mind. It is very beneficial to let that sense go in your work.

Now this might be the hard part. Trust yourself and listen to your intuitition. Is breathing better to do first or will meditation get you right into the baseline state? The best way to know, if you have no idea where to begin, is to experiment. Intuition improves with greater pranic flow. It is possible to begin to hear the voice of your inner guidance begin to direct you. Or maybe not. It all depends on what your proclivity in this direction is. What is clear, though, is that a greater flow of prana or qi aids in better health. The entire endochrine system is stimulated and this has a benefit for healing and even slowing down the aging process. I am the second to youngest sibling in my family and while all of my other siblings have long since gone grey I am still holding on to my dark hair. A fluke? I noted prior to the awakening of kundalini that I was beginning to show some grey, but after awakening that process quite obviously stopped. It went onto pause for about ten years and has only recently begun to slowly advance. That, and I don’t get sick like I used to. Colds and the flu are all things of the past pretty much. That isn’t to say that when it is time to go that I wont get sick, but by that time, I will be ready.

You can, though, bear these main points in mind and use each of them in an effective way to tap into your own wellspring of energy. You can use breath to calm your mind prior to meditation. You can then use feeling in meditation to use that to explore more deeply your capacity to feel energy. Once you do these things well, you can begin to incorporate movement in a conscious way in your day to day to begin opening up the body and also feeling its native vitality as more energy begins to flow. Those are my tips and learning the art of becoming inspired is the single most important driver for being able to feel life to its fullest. It can be said that when you are able to cultivate gratitude in your life it has a way of washing away regret and any negative tendencies as you begin to see the good that is there waiting for you there. Prana responds to this kind of mental and emotional landscape. In a sense, like breathing, prana responds to saying “yes” to the abundance of life that is your birthright. This can become, with practice and exploration, and the cultivation of greater levels of prana, the path of ecstacy.

Here is a draft from a few years ago, part of my backlog of posts that I am bringing forward so it can be out there for what they are worth. This is a very busy time of the year for me, so it is nice to have this backlog….

I came to awakening without having been raised in a tradition or philosophy. Yes, my family went to church for a time, but I didn’t join when it came time to do that (and luckily I was allowed to decide for myself). I was always listening to the voice in my heart that tended to caution me about buying into a religious or philosophical construct.

I spent my life in a solo singular approach, seeking out those sources that reflected back to me what spoke to my own growing body of inner truth. In the 80’s I heard the album by Van Morrison “No Guru No Method No Teacher” and found a common sense of belonging to a path that comes from within.

The advantage, to my mind, of this “path” is that we learn to rely on our own inner compass point instead of relying on dogmas from other outside authorities. There is so much in our world that has distortions. Most every philosophy and religion has them. I would be called a nit-picker to point out some, but others are quite big and substantive. This is not to say that there aren’t traditions that aren’t good or useful, it is just that my inner guidance kept me from buying into any one of these paths. Along with this resisting joining or buying into a religion or school of thought was the feeling or expectation of a ‘big reveal’ that was going to happen further down the line. That inner voice was telling me that all of this was building to something.

….And then awakening came and so much was made plain to me about religion, spirit, the world….

It feels like to me that in many ways (not all, but many) that I have been called to seek the light within in order to bring forward the perennial teachings. Now, I know what this might sound like, but I do this for myself. I know growing up, the one thing I was most interested in were the “secrets of the universe.” I also realized that no one else was interested in these things like I was. Not many, anyway. So it isn’t as though I do this for an audience of any kind….I do it because I want the truth. I know; and now I’m writing about it…doesn’t that suggest that I am all about the audience? Not like that.

I share what I come across for anyone who cares to read…so in this way, I very much keep away from the teacher and guru model. Over and over people want a link, a book, a teacher, when the real rubber- meeting-the-road moment happens within. I understand, but enlightenment is waaay simpler, way more foundational an event within the self. No methods, no postures. It is so simple but hard for most it seems. So simple it can be transmitted by a look, a breath, a sigh.

I prefer to be an example for a way to be. It turns out that others have done this also and it is Jiddu Krisnamurti who espoused the “Pathless Path” in his own work. So my impulse or inner directive is not a singular one since there are others who have done the same thing. So with that bit of babble, what I am saying here is something that I came across from what I would call an inner teaching has helped me to understand desire in a way that isn’t often talked about and is also often misunderstood.

In most religions and philosophies, there is a strand or need to describe desire as something that is bad. In other traditions, desire is considered a bad thing, something that is meant to be eschewed. What I have found, though, is that this is actually being filtered through a bias that serves to cause a good deal of misunderstanding about the natural path through the self as a way to work through the issues that remain.

These issues are stored emotions that are contained not just in the brain, but are all throughout the body and is contained and recorded from life to life through the pranamaykosha or the sum total of what we think of as the Light Body.

The “problem” with desire is that what we call prana is itself full of desire. EVERY SINGLE PERSON who has ever been touched by high levels of prana has felt how desire has been intensified. Now you might think that this is just a reaction to an outside stimulus, but in the world of the nondual, any belief about the seperateness of phenomenon quickly is dismissed when you experience how all phenomenon is connected (like Dr. Bronner used to say: “all-one”).

This is one reason why awakening bears with it considerable desire of all kinds. Now, this is not just because when you awaken that prana is stirring these desires (of all kinds), but is the very basis of prana. Yes, personal desires are stirred, but this isn’t all that is at work. The crux of this is that there are issues that we each have that result in desires that are distorted.

Imagine a pure light streaming through a window that is colored with stains that distort this pure light. This is what I am talking about here. We forget the nature of prana and thus also kundalini as being full of desire. Who doesn’t see the stimulating effects that kundalini has on the body who has gone through this? I saw effects of age slow, then reverse for a time before age continued forward more slowly than before.

This desire, though, is a perfected light that does not have the same distortions or blocked forms within it. We are experiencing this advanced energy in our bodies and consciousness while also experiencing what happens when that light strikes our own light bodies, which are most often chock full of blocks when awakening comes (because in the West we do not have traditions that properly help us to prepare for awakening—at least not yet). But we often hear about how bad desire is and how many monks will spend their lives eschewing desire. This leads to all kinds of problems.

One problem is how in Christianity we have shunted aside women as active participants in it (there have been no female popes and no female cardinals or priests (or priestesses)). In Islam, it is much the same. The covering of the feminine is considered a form of protecting modesty, but it is actually doing something else, which is holding back men from learning how to deal with their own energy in such a way that they can work on their blocks and move into this purer kind of light. This is simply one example of how this state of being has been distorted and so misunderstood. The path through desire is not to resist, but to work through it and you cannot do this without facing all of your junk. If you think desire is some bad thing like I have described, then you are hobbling yourself. You will find that your capacity to bring heaven on earth will be greatly limited. But the question naturally arises, does this mean that we must embrace our desires in order to work through them?

The answer to my mind is no. However, it does mean that you do need to raise your awareness about where you are in your development. To do that, you need to be able to see how your desires are causing you problems.

Can you ask yourself if your desires are causing you problems? Can you observe the truth in this by observing what happens in your life? If you are experiencing awakening, you know how powerful this desire can be…and you can feel both this higher desire, which is this light that is moving through you, but you can also feel how this same light of prana is also activating a slew of other lesser desires, and it is natural for us to be drawn to our earthly desires. This is about learning to align to a higher vibrational state. When I hear about people seeking to “ascend” I wonder do people really know what this even means?

Sometimes I see people who are trying to ascend the hardest are the ones who are suffering the most. Simply, this is just holding onto blocks that keep these lower vibrational desires activated. So here’s a secret; if you respond to the reaction that you get from a block, you will never dig that block out. What you need to do is to actually find the stored emotion, not what that emotion is generating. Address that, and you are at the source. Blocks can fool you. You got hurt and you have been placing blame on others ever since. The problem here is as long as you are doing this, you are NOT addressing the initial reaction that you had that causes the block to begin with. I know people who are still going around in circles with something from childhood that they are too invested in how they felt they were hurt by others. This is the trap, you see. The universe does not give a whoop who did what. The only thing that matters is your reaction. You can let yourself be stuck in your reactions. You can be stuck for your whole life, even.

I say this as someone who has known this all too well. We hold onto these things because they feel so wonderfully strong and when we feel something that is so strong, we naturally get drawn to it. What I can tell you is that there is a higher power, a higher vibration that is available to us when we can do the work to cleanse the pranamayakosha (or Light Body).

Early in my awakening, when I began to really get involved in figuring out ways to help assist in releasing these blocked energies (which are often traumas) I began to be visited by higher vibrational beings. They came after awakening ramped up and began to accelerate, which made awakening difficult for a time. One of these spiritual visitors was someone whom I learned was my life guide, someone who revealed himself over twenty years ago to me, but who seemed to disappear for a long time.

When he showed up, he explained who he was. This turned out to be an angel from the Old Testament, called a Seraphim based on what it was he said to me. I never knew much about the angels, so I had to look his history up on the internet. It’s strange to find that the things that I saw about him were actually described in his description in the Old Testament accounts.

He showed up in my room at about four a.m. He walked over to my bed and explained that he needed to take something out of me. In a very matter of fact way he said “You are much more beautiful without this…” and he reached into my heart chakra and removed a dark body from my light body. This was itself amazingly vivid and it felt as though an inner body was being pulled out of me that had no bones. It was pulled away with a feeling of tearing at two points at the top of my lungs, up in the shoulders. But the moment that he reached into my heart center, I had a pulse of energy that was beyond anything I can even begin to describe. I was completely awed by my ability to experience this energy. I had never felt anything like this. It was like bliss X 1,000.00. This was a transformative experience in that I was able to see what is possible for us resting in potential. I wondered how on earth I was able to feel this, it seemed so beyond anything in our world. What this did was it showed me what I had to do in terms of work.

Needless to say, this has served as a kind of peak to look for within myself, to know that as I release more of the hurdles that are in the way within me that have accumulated over this life and other lives, I know that with dedication to this way of being that I can attain this pure light that is known by others seemingly more advanced than we.

You see, these blocks are tied up in beliefs that we have about ourselves that serve to hold us back. These are big and small and very often they are almost always limiting us. When you think about this energy of prana as a sentient energy (which it is), you are dealing with an energy that is limitless. Is it any wonder, then, that we experience synchronicities and perfectly timed events when kundalini (prana) begins to flow so strongly? When we are aligned within ourselves without limitations, what we wish for is unimpeded in its movement through the pranic field. When this happens, the field responds and it begins to create with us. Well, it is actually always creating with us, but the problem we so often talk about is how some of our wishes don’t come true. Instead, we have other things happen that hold us in a state that is “less than.”

The reason this is happening this way is because there is a competing belief that literally cancels out the signal of the wish that you wish could come to pass. Remove or resolve/change the belief and you open the flow and path for this wish to come true. To do this requires honesty and surrender.

Now bear in mind that I am not espousing some materialistic angle on spirituality that will bring you your wildest dreams for the sake of greed. Instead, when aligned to the highest within you, and when that alignment is not being cancelled by competing beliefs, that energy will flow in accord with how clear you are and the result that you get wont be filled with glitches like they so often might be. For example, here you are, you are finding you can wish for things and they happen. Great. You land that job you really needed in some new part of the country for the next leg of your journey and it is just what you need. That is one hurdle removed. But once you get in that job suddenly you find people emerging from the woodwork who seem to be the same color of some past experiences that you thought maybe you had dealt with, but obviously not because here they are causing you trouble. These people are part of a pattern from your past and they remain for as long as you have this belief still within you because that belief about yourself is actually activating physical reality along those same lines. The universe is super intelligent and it will bring you things that are bizarrely perfectly aligned with your stuff that you have not yet dealt with. Its like God is sending you something. But you are doing this. You. You are working with this amazingly creative force that is forming the physical and supporting it and bringing you all of this energy. It is up to you how you use it. If you are holding limiting beliefs, the universe dutifully brings you limited results.

We live limited lives in part because we believe that we are limited beings. We think we are just this one body, and we have created both consciousness and culture to close our larger being down, but we are much more. Being able to tap into what we truly are, which is a vessel for this shining light, is a very good first start. Only then can we know what is possible.

You can begin to taste this by removing the blocked energy in your field. As you do, you will find gradually, that things will get easier and easier. In fact, desire itself will change. It will get better, stronger, more cosmic, but also more peaceful. I think we all know just how chaotic awakening can make us feel especially in the beginning. But this is not because of our upbringing or because of another person making us feel a certain way or any of that. We feel this chaos because we are the chaos. Work through it, and it will go away, never to return.

The thing about doing this work is that desire does not go away, it get better. The thing about this work is that we realize over and over that no one else is ever the problem, we are. When you can turn the lantern of your awareness into yourself and dare to see all of your broken places and roll up your sleeves and ask the universe how to heal it, it quite naturally will begin to show you ways to do that. When I said I wanted to clear away the dross, my awakening accelerated because I had someone telling me where the blocks were and who to go see to take care of some of them. I had books and I had dreams, I had realizations in meditation or throughout the day, all showing up in amazingly perfect timing over and over. These things were not based in the old way of doing things but of being willing to finally be really honest with myself about my own shit.

The other side of desire that limits us is our shame. It keeps us locked in a prison most often. We don’t want to be seen as “less than” so we put on these masks or we try to hide in order to get through our days. Someone once said that we should be as children and we will know the kingdom. We need to return to a kind of openness and innocence in our work I think in order for it to go more smoothly. We might need to get used to the idea that things are going to change and that the intense current we are feeling in awakening is likely coming from holding our fingers over the end of the hose. No, more energy is not flowing, it is being impeded. Impeding the light will make everything seem intense and strong, but it is holding back the flow. This happens the first five years of aeakening for most people (some it can take much longer, some, fewer, for less time).

When we hold back, we are also holding back or denying what we are destined to be. There is no reason to feel shame that you have not reached perfection. The truth is, no such perfection exists, we just keep getting better and better. I mean really. if you think of the supreme consciousness and how advanced it is and how it interpenetrates the entirety of all things and knows each sparrow that falls, then that is a pretty high bar to set, don’t you think? So don’t be silly; ascension is simply a process that goes on and on. Maybe its even a good idea to let that old husk of an idea go because at some point all that striving will actually serve to limit you. There is no arrival, there is no real ascension save for a continuum of becoming and improving ourselves continuously forever. When we can be like children, we are no longer impressed so much by big productions and hunger for the really simple things…like play (creating).

So I say this to speak to myself because I am telling myself what I need to remember. Since I have experienced this, I have no hesitation sharing it because when you share what you know and what has served you as genuine, it will work for others too. Our fields are part of the same field. All are connected. Our consciousness divides “this” from “that” creating arbitrary and sometimes not too arbitrary divisions. Some are important for a time but fall away.

Even as I am writing this, I can feel the presence of the future and those who will be reading it. I know that my own energy will meet the reader, you, and something in me that is entirely without word will remind you of what it is that you are and what you are capable of. And this happens all the time. It is only a reminder.

The goal of desire is to teach us about our need to create and how central this is in our universe. We create all the time and we do so out of desire….desire of all kinds…and those creations are a mirror for where we are in our development like how children are a biological mirror in part of who the parent are. As you clear desire of the blocks, desire will grow ever more powerful and it will be….simpler, less impeded, and it wont trip you up as much as it did in the past. it wont be that you will feel any less desire, it is that the desire that you feel will be free from limiting ways of getting energized by things that aren’t good for you. It isn’t that desire is bad, it is that so many people can’t get over the hump of their own junk enough to see that desire actually changes and does so in a wonderful way. No, this is not about denying desire, and if you do, you will forestall your development, I promise you that. If you release fear then you might find yourself more easy with others so your own energy can just fill a room without any hesitation. You wont be afraid of somehow being captured by another person’s energy because you are so sure of your own. You will be more easy in yourself and desire will simply be aligned to a higher purpose. This wont be something that you think with your mind, it will be something that you feel all through you. And even then, you might still have things to work on…like all of us.

But the homework for today is; what is the source of desire? What IS desire? if prana IS desire-filled, then what is its parentage, its origins? What is animating prana?

I think desire is here to help us to refine the way we feel. It is to help us to feel. Most tend to pooh-poohs feeling, but the truth here is in order to know peace and contentment, we first need to understand all of the things that color our feeling. When the consciousness is clarified, we don’t get tossed about by our knee-jerk and hot button issues all of which are being driven by the result of the repressed emotions, the blocks I have been discussing all along here. I’m talking about a version of you that you were always meant to know. Now isn’t this interesting, a great mystery to help yourself unravel.

If you ask the question how do I do this work, the first and most important step is to learn how to help facilitate the release of stored energy in the body. Kundalini helps immensely with this, but you can also facilitate its removal greatly with a variety of methods. Qi Gong is very helpful especially in the first five years, but so is a method called TRE which uses tremor movement (shaking) to tap into an ability that we have to release stored trauma. It can work remarkably well. There is body work or deep tissue massage by an intuitive therapist who can feel blocks in your body. There is also forms of yoga that involve helping to clear the energy channels in the light body that hold these blocks. Being creative is itself very helpful also. There are many methods that can assist you in releasing this material.

As I look over our history as a species, from the Middle East and the religions it spawned, to the East and the philosophies, the almost-religions that stopped short of being those because they do not espouse worship of a deity or a god of any kind, I see a pattern emerge as it relates to our creative energy and all of its relatives; except under very specific conditions creative energy is only allowed to be expressed in certain ways.  I am dealing with creative energy in a very broad sense here, so if you thought creative energy was that part of us that solved problems or helped create new things like cars or rockets to the moon or music and art, hang on.  Creative energy, I have come to see includes all aspects of our being, from our desire to create art to our desire to build bridges and civilizations.  Our creativity also includes the forces that maintain our bodies and it also includes our capacity, our ability, to create more of ourselves through sexual intercourse between men and women.  All of this to my mind and experience is part of a cosmic strand that divides out in numerous ways in our consciousness but has at its root an energy that in its origin is wild and free.

The problem in our world today is that except as noted previously, creative energy has been tamped down, controlled.  Churches have done this by instilling a sense of shame about our sexuality. We were to not trust our sexuality or our urges least of all so we relied on our religions to tell us what was what.  And you know, I am not convinced that it was for good.  Look at the scandals rocking the Catholic church and they don’t seem to stop. The Pope speaks out about it, but its like it is some monolithic structure with little accountability or willingness to change.  If you doubt what I am saying here, just do a historical church of the scandals that have taken place with the Catholic church over the years and you will begin to see how difficult this issue is.  Part of it stems from requiring priests to be chaste.  I am just going to say that when our creative fires are so narrowly focused there will always be trouble. Creativity was meant to be wild and free, not tamed, and here we are with our religions trying to tame what really was meant to set us free.  And instead, we are prisoners.

I will admit that what I say about prana is my take.  People are keen to try and point out that our perception is just perception, so human, so frail, so likely to be distorted.  But you know, this time, I don’t think so.  As I read about the hundreds, thousands, even, of experiences describing the bliss of the flow of prana, I see the same thing. It’s seen as a goddess, perhaps, wild and free, powerful.  But this energy is in all of us, the place where our inner man and inner woman meet, the explosion of opposites.  That is the definition of kundalini….which is nothing more than this: prana in supreme abundance (finally!). What I observe is what everyone else observes.  People may have different reactions to it.  Some might close down, some might open up.  Some might open and close in turns.  Some will be highly insightful, some will realize there is more to their ability to plumb their depths.  All through it, prana is the wild child to me, a liberating and spiritually lubricating force.

Torus form with multiple sheathes/fields

Prana is creative.  It stimulates all centers of the body when there is an abundance of it.  The ancients described bliss that was off the charts due to the increased flow of this energy.  As I sit writing this, I feel a steady-state experience of bliss.  I came to this level of bliss as a result of a lot of inner work.  I instinctively knew that if I followed what kundalini was doing that things would get easier.  They have.  I still have my challenges that I deal with, but they change with every realization or inner breakthrough.  I know that in my case that prana has fueled wildly vigorous creative energy.  In fact, I had to be creative in the arts in order to build enough of a flow in my body to sustain the current level of bliss that I feel.  When I go into the energy I can feel its wildness.  I can feel that it was never intended to be tamed.  yes, it is like water and will flow into any container in which it is poured, but the vessel itself is what limits or allows the flow of this force.

As someone who deals with awakening on a daily basis for over a decade, I luagh at the videos of teachers telling people how to awaken the kundalini.  The “Sat Nam!” breath that is one part hammer and one part release into the Mystery.  i know that if I had to depend on an exercise like that to awaken I think I should wait a very long time.  Maybe someone figured out that it worked for some folks, but I direct the flow of prana by way of feeling only.  This has always been what has opened the gates….always.  Even teachers who say prana is breath are wrong; prana is a fine energy that is in no way contained in the air.  No, prana moves by way of feeling. In fact, feeling is how we actually communicate to the cosmos. it is how the dream is made manifest (I write about this extensively in the blog so do a search to find out more).

The chakras are energy centers and every one has an emotional vibration connected to it.  This “emotive power” inherent in the chakras is born out of this feeling quality I am talking about.  No, people shut down their chakras and thus prana when they feel a hard feeling instead of a soft opening feeling.  And even if a million teachers say prana is breath, it does not make it right even once.  It just means that they themselves do not understand prana or have not been able to stimulate prana with anything other than breath (and this tells me as the observer that they may be lacking in their ability to connect with their feeling side of themselves to boot!). I know it might sound pedantic, but I promise you that it isn’t.  When we understand something so simple as prana responding to feeling, we can get ourselves on the right track in our own work for bringin in more of it so that its flow can heal (which it does).

Breath, when properly used, has a stimulating effect on the body which in turn stimulates prana. It isn’t even that the chakras respond to thought, it is deeper still than that.  Feeling….the whole world is lacking in feeling and awareness of their power to feel.  People who are not awakened will laugh at this, but trust me, the world carries a level of numbness in them…..even awakened people.  The journey to full feeling can take some time.  I know that I have been gifted with a kind of energetic “reset” by a healer who revealed the true depth of my woundedness, which sent me into a very real sense of physical pain (which was itself emotional/spiritual but now boosted by the presence of prana so it feels physical), so I know that we can go merrily along with the work of awakening only to find, “holy bejebus! there is so much more!” even years later.  So this is why all of this can become such a journey for people.  This is a journey to realization.  Realization comes about as a result of awareness.  Sometimes, once in a great while, we can meet people who we connect so deeply with that they share something about themselves that can spark all sorts of realizations within ourselves.  Some are direct, some tangential.  Some are unintended.  But this is why relationship has been so important in awakening and is also one aspect that is largely denied by the world’s religions as a bona fide religious or spiritual “practice.”

Yes, prana is creative. There are stories of how women who have undergone awakening have experienced a sense as though they were pregnant, that they were going to birth something. A close family friend confided in me during one of our talks about her awakening process that she went through a period of time when she could feel her body wanting to physically birth something. She sensed that this was part of her awakening process, but it was a curious experience to her.  When I explained to her that many other women have reported the same experience it made her feel a little less crazy. The experiences have all been extremely similar and I think that it points to powerful energies that are creative in nature but that operate at higher dimensional levels and are having their effect in our day-to-day lives (because it’s all connected now).

So I think that when we are faced with the spirit and the higher self, it is quite natural for higher-order experiences to be transmitted into the language of the body, to be related to our bodies as well as all other levels of ourselves.  I have noticed that at a certain level the self knows itself to be One with all things, so naturally the creative energy of prana is the same as the creativity of our personalities, the same creativity of our physical bodies in making babies, and who knows what other forms of creative output there are in other realms of experience that we have yet to discover as sentient beings. What is universal is that creativity always feels blissful.  When we create babies in the physical our bodies provide us with an orgasm to make the experience that much more filled with reward, but creative energy also brings chills and goosebumps to creators of music and art.  It at once expresses and evokes powerful feeling. People who have awakened almost all go through intense creative bursts.  As an artist I can say that my awakening has fueled a number of new directions in my work that would have never existed before.  It’s a little crazy in a way just how crowded my inner landscape is with ideas.  My only challenge is in bringing these ideas to fruition.  And, in the way that prana also works, it speeds up manifesting many-times over.  For example, when I began thinking about how close I was to reopening my studio practice after teaching, without saying a word, but thinking how I would like to have some good assistants, I received one highly qualified request for being involved in some part-time capacity at the studio making work as well as two beginners who expressed a sincere desire to learn the discipline.  The interesting part of this is how well-timed it was.  By now, I am not surprised by any of this, but I know that when my prana flow increases, it accelerates manifestation of desired outcomes.  That said, it might bring me a person who WANTS to work in my field, but it does not guarantee that they will be excellent or that they will decide to stay with it a year or even a week later. Sometimes, you have to dig deeper to find where these glitches exist.  But that is for another time.

But here is the problem as I see it, at least as it relates to many of our institutions on earth,  which is that our creativity has been hijacked.  It’s not some demonic conspiracy to enslave humanity, just a desire to tamp down creativity because it scares people who are in positions of power.  One thing I know about power is that the vast majority of institutions and the people within then have a great need to control.  This control on the one hand may have been intended to keep people from killing each other or behave badly, but the other side of the coin has been that it also limits freedom.  It limits our creativity.  When I look at what I have seen in my meditations about creativity and how wild and free it is and when I look at the human race, I see a big disconnect.  And the problem? Here is your problem…..

We value war and destroying in the name of greed and the usurpation of land and wealth through military invasions and keeping our race held hostage by the fear of the next fabricated threat that the military industrial complex decides to come up with next (read your history on this—most of our wars have been coups on the part of the CIA or an effort to fool us into war, this didn’t start with the invasion of Iraq, this has been going on for a long time). We are taught that to be a man we must be warlike, unfeeling.  Women have their place, perhaps one of the greatest fonts of creative energy alive on the planet and our women are shut down to such an unbelievable degree. Their thought process mimics men in their rational approach, with that fabulous intuitive and feminine character of soul nearly gone.   Really, you have no idea.  But so are the men shut down.  We all are, so don’t think I am picking on anyone in particular.  But men are shut down in such a way that it creates this rage and it just keeps feeding their desire to go to war so they can just kill something.  This, my friends, is creativity turned into itself.  This is the dark side of the creative force.  Do I really need to point this out to you? Men who don’t know how to command their sexual energy, women who are afraid of these men, and then women who aren’t in command of their own sexual energy too, and use their emotional forces of manipulation to work things in their favor.  It is a crazy mixed up mess if you ask me.

Our institutions by and large forswear sexual expression as a necessity to make babies, but by and large, we have incredible taboos placed on our sexuality.  While there are good reasons for governing behavior in theory, my observation is that our attempts to govern sexual energy result in greater dysfunction than ever.  Men pitted against women, the war of the sexes, men not in possession of their source of power and women not in full possession of their source of power either.  All the while we are taught that our sexual nature is dirty, that lust is not redeemable, and forget having sex if its lustful.  In fact, most of our institutions teach us how to sublimate sexual energy as a convenient way of side-stepping the issue altogether. In many parts of Asia its as though the teaching of Zen Buddhism and Taoism and other strands of Buddhism would rather deal with packaging bliss so that its no longer sexual as their axis mundi for solving the problem.  Women no longer in possession of themselves will never engage a man at the level of his divinity for very long, but the exact same can be said for men with their women.  I ask; how did we get here? I feel like I am in that video by the Talking Heads for the song Once In A Lifetime where a clearly out of control David Byrne seeks to illustrate the chaos of our lives as controlled beings while desiring finding the flow of life.

When I step back from this madness, I can feel a world within me swirling with the forces of creation in a way that I had always hoped to be able to feel, actually.  I had always hoped prior to awakening that creative energy was this vivid and strong (and it is). But when I look at the world I see we have a long way to go, baby.  We have a long way to go because we have squashed the creativity of the feminine and masculine both.

It’s interesting to me how as men begin to soften, kundalini is coming onto the scene also as women are learning how to find their own strength and their own sovereignty.  I observe that on a collective level humans are reaching across the aisle and integrating more of their opposites into their lives especially over the last twenty years (which also corresponds with the sudden increase of awakening (I could be wrong, but I don’t buy that these awakenings are due to someone decided it will be, but are the result of a myriad of factors all resulting in the changes we see today.  If you know how awakening is itself defined by the fusion of opposites in consciousness, then you can perhaps appreciate how it is that we now have a mass awakening taking place on the planet. Right. Now. And honestly, I observe that the progress we have made not just for hundreds of years, but especially during this last century, just happens to be of a kind that favors the fusion of opposites.  What if instead of this being some grand cosmic event as many want to say it is, we are simply glimpsing the natural result of people having reached a kind of threshold point in their development with awakening being the result.  This period has shown us more possibilities and people have been able to shrug off the control of their institutions just enough to begin to evolve in new directions, directs that favor awakening.

I think we need to be less concerned about how others will react or treat us.  We already are made into a kind of outcast by the differences in our experiences moment by moment from the average Joe and Josephina.  I mean, admit it, even as you go through your life undercover as the awakened being on the planet, you also find that this makes you feel so singular and lonely.  Social things for social creatures.  I think that the teachings of Tantra have a lot to explain about bliss.  While tantra is itself not necessarily sexual, the parts of tantra that are do not seek to shy away from confronting issues in our consciousness (well, it is the same with white tantra or black, both head straight-away right into the center of the fire which is how all emotional release work is done in fact).  The lesson is that you never skirt the briar patch, you head right into it and liberate it of whatever hitches that reside within the self.  Free yourself from shame, guilt, and repressed emotion. I know that in my life I have worked to dissolve as much of it as I can.  I have more to go, but as this last block rears its head I am reminded that if I am to be able to hear the voice of my intuition and my inner guidance as clearly as possible, I have to continue to be clearer.  Don’t be tamed, friends.

You can’t see a chakra, so how is it that I am using a term like ‘anatomy’ to talk about it?

Invisible to the naked eye, the chakras are beyond visible perception but have been studied for thousands of years. Chakra is a word from Sanskrit that means ‘wheel.’ While the concept of the chakra never entered into the lexicon of Chinese Medicine, the Chinese mapped the lines connecting the chakra system with such precision that their maps are used to locate and identify the gateways or points in the subtle body system that can be pressed or “needled” by acupuncturists to help release the blocked energy the Chinese call qi and the Hindus call prana. The specifics differ due to cultural inclinations, but they are both describing the same thing, as well as different parts of the same system of energy.

The anatomy of the chakras has been done by those sensitive enough or those most willing to tune into them using energetic awareness and the third eye. For as ancient as the knowledge is, there is still more to discover.

In 2009, I was visited by an angelic being who placed his hand into my heart chakra in what I describe as a form of “surgery” where he pulled out a “skin” or body of old psychic material that I had in my energy body. As this was happening, my system went from feeling like it was running on a 220 volt system to a 10,000 volt system. Everything lit up, my entire being was suffused by a love of God so incredible I had no idea such an experience was even possible. During what only took a moment, a series of extremely rapid communications took place. I realized that I had entered into a superstate. I am telling you this to point out that whenever I have had these transcendent experiences (I actually don’t go beyond—I feel that I am enhanced or consciousness has accelerated), my perception and awareness also is enhanced right along with everything else.

One thing that I noticed was that I was focused on my heart chakra and saw what appeared to be a beautiful thousand-petaled flower form that emerged into my mind’s eye awareness. As I watched this flower that I knew was my heart chakra, I noticed that behind the flower was yet another flower. As I looked at this, information streamed into me letting me know that the flower in the front of my chest coincided with yang or positive “male” energy in consciousness while the other flower or chakra corresponded to the yin or “feminine” qualities in consciousness. I use quotes because this has nothing to do with gender or sexual orientation, just a quality in all of us. It is also what connects us to the divine, to superconsciousness which is native to all of us and not separate from any of us. It is the yin/yang and the father/holy ghost. These two build the full compliment of superconsciousness also known as cosmic mind, the Christ, and others (described in every major culture).

This second flower was guarded, protected, really, or so it seemed, by its masculine counterpart.I thought how lovely that was, but I also thought that this idea seemed new. I had never heard of two heart chakras before (and I’ve studied energy for years), so what was going on?

This experience led me to inquire more deeply within to see if I could find out more.

What I came up with from my inner study was a little hard to grasp on the surface but easy to grasp in totality. So here goes…

Since the chakras correspond to the physical body, they have the appearance of a given location and form, with two complimentary channels of energy moving through and aiding in the activation or flow(yin and yang). At the same time, the chakras channel this energy called prana which appears to not be tied down to a regular 3-dimensional structure only. As a result their placement in the body, while consistent, also has a few odd inconsistencies attached. For one; it exhibits nonlocality. This means that a discrete particle of energy can be anywhere, or, theoretically, everywhere simply because while it is here in space/time, it also exists outside of it. This correlates with some theories in quantum mechanics which give physicists a hard time sometimes.

In the body there are Ida and Pengali channels in the nadi or meridian system. The Ida carries what is generally thought of as a negative charge with the Pengali carrying what we refer to as a positive charge. These run in parallel along the spine. While this is so, the feminine aspect of the chakra appears to be situated towards the back side of the body. It seems as though this might be an odd bit of “spooky action” at a distance.Perhaps when the energy from the Ida and Pengali enter the chakra it gets “turned” somehow so that this orientation is perceived as being front to back. This is the forward edge of energetic understanding since no one that I am aware of has delved into this issue. It’s curious and I’d like to understand it better because I think it could reveal a hitherto unknown characteristic of the energy that might provide us with a new wrinkle in also understanding ourselves and the super consciousness that “invented” all of this.

Now as I say this, I know that it could also be that nothing is as simple as it seems. It could be that we only feel this orientation due to how our own personalities or Psyche’s are structured. It is possible that I feel the receptive energy more in the core of my being because I am a heterosexual male whose sexual alignment is masculine/hetero while I have a non-dominant series of feminine traits that are more subtle in their expression. Would a woman feel an inner masculine that resides within, situated so because those traits are not dominant? Or is this just how I am oriented? I do note however that the Seraphim when telling me his name showed me his nature in a visual image. It consisted of a tall masculine man with a softer interior. Hard on the outside, soft on the inside. This is very much like how I feel myself to be…so I do wonder how others experience this….

I also found that what I was feeling was that one side of the chakra turned one way based on its polarity while the other side, to the back, turned a different way. That is, the movement felt like it was opposite or complimentary. This created the feeling of two lobes of the same object turning together but using or being affected by different “ends” of the energy. To be more accurate, there was a feeling of this being a torus form where energy would flow out and then back into the center which is the “zero point” where all energy reached no-charge. Positive would turn into negative and negative would turn into positive. The torus itself maintained a magnetic alignment that gave it a sense of solidity, form, and consistency…much like how the physical body maintains consistency even though it is made entirely of energy (E=MC2)

I was pleased to find that the drawing I made back in the day to illustrate this is a nearly perfect representation of images Barbara Brennan has had illustrated in her books about human energy and healing.

Don’t take the drawing as literal, however. It leaves a lot of subtle material out and is meant to present the idea. It is highly simplified in order to make some principles clearer. The image is below.

And for that matter, this image of a torus viewed on its side (think of a donut shape) could be used (below).

For those interested in learning by doing, or helping to expand our knowledge base, I encourage you to use the minds eye to see the energy body. I know that what I have done is the same perception used by the Chinese that led to their meridian maps or the Indian system of the basis or energy channels.

Once when I was in a deep restful state with my masseuse and energy worker, I found my third eye activated and I was able to look at my body as though I was looking down from my head to my feet. I saw how along one meridian there were a cluster of other points, each coinciding with a chakra in another part of the body. What’s more, my masseuse was about to press her finger on that meridian line and as she felt for it, I saw one of the dots around the meridian was dark. I told her what I was seeing. The point was so small, her finger covered the cluster of points but the very center of her pressure in her finger was about an 8th of an inch off. So I told her which direction to press into, and as she pressed, she also moved her finger over the fascia of my skin just enough to reach the one point exactly. She pressed and I howled in pain; she was worried and I said to keep pressing harder. And boom, just like that, two memories popped into clear view that involved my trauma with the ocean-once as a child in my life now and as a Polynesian. While the details aren’t important here, the fact that I saw something that had never been described before in any manual on energy medicine sure seemed very important. Instead of viewing the energy system front-end, I was looking “down the pipe” (top to bottom) as I call it and saw this cluster of dots that when pushed, cleared energy from another chakra in another part of the body. The pressure point was in my shoulder but the center that released was down in the hip or root chakra region. When I guided her finger to the exact point, it was like releasing a long forgotten memory and the emotions that went along with it.Interstingly this cluster of points looked just like a flower with dots for petals. Each petal, a channel for bliss-filled energy. The implication in my vision was that each chakra is energetically present at every other point. Let that sink in for a while.

You might think if you see a chakra as a flower that this is its literal structure. It isn’t. A chakra might feel like a flower but look like a cluster of meridian lines. But the chakra feels like a beautiful unfolding flower. It’s poetry, you see, a way to tell the truth when faced with something in our world through colorful interpretations based on the association’s we have with objects in the world. The image tells the truth through dreaming.

Dream imagery achieves the same thing; it conveys how we feel about something because our response and our experience are in no way separated from the phenomenon. When someone misperceives me,f or example,  I feel it as a tightening, almost always, because the channels of energy are being affected in that person and I can feel what they feel when I tune them in.  But it is they who are shutting down their energy, not me. I can still feel it. It might seem real to them, but is not real beyond what the energy is doing (constricting) and I know that it is in this constriction that people pull into their own limited story lines about what they think is true instead of what is. So they dream a story and believe it to be real. I do not dream, but feel the restriction. So likewise I saw the chakras as like a peony with endless petals. Beautiful and poetic, with the male “covering” or protecting the female. But this was just an image that I saw that sought to interpret what I was able to grasp in the moment. It was beyond beautiful… it was cosmic… so a peony with its riot of petals opening helped to convey this opening that happened in me with the angelic seraphim.

To that end, it is an image that describes a spatial and non-spatial phenomenon all at once (something both physical and nonphysical all at once).

What am I saying? I am saying that truths use images to express themselves, but we are the ones choosing the images. The clearer you are inside, the clearer the transmission is. Don’t take images in the mind as the literal truth because there is more for all of us to learn and know (myself included). I’m just showing you whatI have seen, hoping others will get curious and want to do their own inquiry to help move all of us along in our understanding.

Recently I shared some information about the issue of energetic entities titled “That Parasite.” Since writing it there has been some interest in going into this further in regards to the how of releasing these from your field.

There is a panoply of entities that can be drawn to people for numerous reasons, but entity attachment all boils down to one very simple factor, which is a vulnerability that is in the form of an unhealed place in the self, a repressed trauma or resistance to something that now creates a recursive merry-go-round effect that is a karmic issue.

I write about this a lot since it snags the majority of people on the planet and holds up the process of embodiment-learning from and becoming more like ones higher self. But this article wont go into the many types of beings except that there are as many as there are wounds in people here on Gaia. Instead, I want to focus on the core issues that I hope will lead you to your own greater awareness so that you can call upon your own resources.

There is tremendous benefit in ridding yourself of these subtle energetic influences. I know because I did it. If I can, so can you.

First Things First

I will begin by saying that I really do not buy into rituals or tools or trappings of any kind for energy work. I prefer a direct approach because my own healing was achieved in this way. We are souls that exist through all time and dimension-tools are not required.

Having said this, belief is a funny thing. It serves as a channel that regiments and forms experience, and if you believe you need a tool, belief will make it hard to do otherwise (unless you examine your beliefs and change them). So if a tool gets you in the right space, use it. But you have had the power all along…

The Two Pillars

I do feel that all of this is incredibly simple and it’s based on intent and feeling. These are the two pillars of this work. You need to be clear about what you want(intent) and you need to break out of your rational mind set and enter the magical realm of the imagination and of feeling.  This is NOT emotion.  This is your capacity to become increasingly more sensitive to psychic energy…which is the energy of your consciousness.  If you are sensitive to your own energy and can feel it, you can feel others, including the presence of others, both etheric entities and the minds of others who enter your field just by thinking of you. So this is not just any feeling, which probably sounds terribly vague. I will explain this as I go along.

Seeing It Anew

First, realize that entity removal is not hard. It can be incredibly easy. I will explain what makes it hard as well as easy.

What makes it hard is simple -it is one of several things: fear of the entity (like how we might fear a dog or an unknown), uncertainty about our ability to make the change, a spiritual/emotional wound that’s troubling, and being unable to shift awareness out of a rational “doing” mindset. Having a sense of mystery only invites fear and fear brings uncertainty and that scatters your effectiveness. There is nothing to fear or to be anxious about. This only gives the entity more standing and power. This is not a physical “fight” but a spiritual one.

It does no good to think on how Hollywood has handled entities. All of this is way off the mark. I know that there are accounts of possession by entities and the stories make their way into horror stories, but they are horrific partly because of the people, that is—the priests, who make all of this more than what it needs to be. The posture or attitude of the healer will always have a defining effect. And I will point out that most entities are simply lower astral forms, fragments and cast-off’s from humans and other forms of consciousness. Some are just undeveloped and in the process of becoming. They are simple and most often attach to people based on just a couple of emotions (most often). But how you approach them either gives them energy or sends them on their way.

What makes all of this easy is when you allow yourself to stop fearing them and see them for what they are.  They do not belong, yes, but they have also attached to you because of an opening in your field, what in sanscrit is called a samscara, or soul wound.  Your soul wound affects the consistency of your energy field, or aura, and this is most certainly tied into the major energy system known as chakras.  You can make all of this easy or hard.  If you bring fear into it, then guess what; hard!  Or even thinking that this is going to be hard will actually create a situation that is a self fulfilling prophecy.  I’d like to explain the hard stuff a little more because I think people will need some guidance on this issue.

A Little History…

Years ago my sister complained of a ghost that had been involved in some poltergeist activity in the house where we lived. It was at first hard to believe until I began to encounter  it myself. It was something like a trouble maker it seemed to me and I wondered how to deal with it. I decided, along with my sister, that we would try to contact this ghost or presence to see if we could bring a change. We drew up a make-shift ouija board on a sheet of paper, made a pointer from the ring of a flashlight and got to work contacting this being.

We didn’t have to wait long. In he came, full of bluff and bravado. We found out that he had lived in the house in the earlier part of that century and had died from diptheria. He was unable to move on…or some part of him remained. This was the cause for the psychic disturbances happening in the house and the poltergeist activity.

We probed him about why he did what he did, and clearly, he got a kick out of it. As we talked to him and explained how he seemed stuck there in the house, we noticed a change taking place over the weeks that we were in contact. I asked him if he had ever tried connecting to his higher self, had he ever thought of life beyond the house he was in? And then a shift happened. It was rather sudden but it was noticeable.  It had to do with his becoming aware of “Light”and from that time forward, everything about our haunting fellow changed. He came in and out, and was less present as he had been. He stopped the really spooky stuff he had done and seemed to be changed. The change though was sudden, like on a dime. The thing is, this is how it is with everyone (like flesh and blood people).  This is not some kind of bullshit story from Hollywood where the entity makes the bed lift up with a glowing red light under it. No.  Its like going to the dentist and he takes out a tooth and has it done before you realize its already done.

And one small aside….when my sister and I did our contact using our home made board, we didn’t light candles.  We didn’t dim the lights.  We did everything out in the open, full daylight because HOW YOU FEEL has everything to do with the outcome.  Nothing ever got weird or scary because we never went there.  We were just with someone who got a kick out of scaring people probably because he was bored stiff and stuck like a tick without any guidance that he was stuck. You see, once you die, time changes.  Years can go by and you have no clue.  You are out of that space time flow, even though you are coincident and focused on that place you are stuck in. And this wasn’t the whole soul of the person, it was simply an aspect, a single lifetime or a part of that person. This is most often how “hauntings” actually are.

The poltergeist stuff stopped and there has never been any more activity since we had our chats. It is perhaps for this reason that I think that a lot of what we think as scary and mysterious is only this way because we are feeding that emotion into it. And the only thing I would do different now is I wouldn’t need to use a board for contact, I would simply talk to his soul. I have known for years that there is almost always another story. I think that this experience set me up to be able to approach things the way I have, and its been very succesful.
In awakening the issue of lower dimensional entities came up in my awakening and I am here to share what I have learned, stripped as bare as possible of opinion or guessing.

Understanding & The Myth Of Protection

The first thing is…….Don’t fear them. Instead, understand them. Know what motivates them if you want to heal and release them. Is it fear that they like to create? Is it anger? Is it sexual energy? Self loathing? Whatever it is, the entity feeds on you when your wound is activated. And a wound is most often a trauma or experience you never got over and suppressed it where it then festered and created a problem of emotional dysfunction of one kind or another. It is, though, buried, and takes a good deal of grace to tap into to learn more about. It takes honesty. You will often known what emotion they feed on because of your reaction.  Is it over the top?  You might want to look more closely at that!

The more you heal these wounds, the fewer hooks these entities have to grab you with.Healing makes your energy field “slick” so nothing can snag it or grab hold. This is why I explain that most efforts people make to shield or protect themselves is simply nonsense. It’s bullshit. Sorry, but it is. The concept of psychic protection is pretty useless when you consider we are all one, all connected, related, and live in and communicate through a vast network or field of energy that is the body of the Prime Creator, or all that is. Everything we do is in truth like an open source event where the information is open to all. Certainly the self can choose to hide or create a notion of privacy in the physical, but the ether is not made this way, you see. Its all in the open.

The way to protect yourself is to raise your vibration so that lower  entities can’t latch on in the first place. This requires hard work and soul searching. Know thyself. And now to know the beings…

So lets say you don’t know what the entity’s game plan is, its own personal zeitgeist. Can you identify how it makes you feel?  If you can do that, you can know more both about your wound and what the entity feeds on. You simply observe. Watch over time and garner a good series of observations. The trick that gets played is that of second guessing, “Was that me or an influence from an entity?” You will know through observation—do you feel like you lose control over an emotion easily? While not a test that is 100% accurate, it can point you in the right direction often.

I once had a spouse who had, and still has, an entity that is latched on to her that feeds on her anger. I could feel it when the entity came alive in her because there was a distinct heaviness that would fill the room that differed from her own usual vibrational signature. Her emotional outbursts were also much more prolonged when this entity came forward or was activated. When I mentioned my observations to my very sensitive daughter many years later (we talk about this stuff sometimes), her face lit up—she had felt the same thing. These are not our reactions to an action in a person, they are perceptions. Learn to tell the difference and trust your feelings.

Sometimes an entity will be attached to a given center or chakra in the body, but they will be attached to a center only because there is a block or wound there. By knowing or feeling them there, you can read up on what that center is all about and then consider that the block or wound is resistance to the perfect positive flow for that center. A heart block could be resistance to compassion, love, or self-love in some way. It could cause anger, frustration, sorrow, all depending on the nature of the original first event of resistance that created the wound or block in the first place.

Some entities, you might notice, will move around in the body (those most closely associated with the body types). In the early stages (first three years) of awakening some of you will feel them as though they are physically moving around inside your body (this is also part of seeing or sensing objects or movement in your peripheral vision that often looks like shadows). I know how that sounds, but it is much ado about nothing. But until you clear them, you may feel sensations like something moving. And if not moving, then other energetic effects. I would not describe these as real as if it was physical, but is more “like,” or “as though.” You will of course sound completely crazy to any “normal” person who has had no experience along these lines.

These sensations are an attempt by the brain to translate messages it gets that are from the pranic side of our experience. It is translated into something that makes sense to us at a sensory level (and so the range of effects can be broad potentially). Regardless of how the entities present themselves, they remain until you heal enough to remove them. You can also remove them and then heal faster. There are numerous other sensations possible, and if you use your feeling self, your inner senses, you can become more adept at feeling their movements or presence. The only advantage in doing this is to understand them and yourself by knowing or being more aware of what is happening and where to focus healing.

Some entities are not so much in the body as associated with it.
Realize that these beings do not orient themselves with respect to physical reality the way we do. Theirs is a world measured in intensities and feelings. There is no distances for them, only relationships. They ride streams of energy the way a radio broadcast rides on a radio wave. They move through time like we move through space. Some are connecting to you through multiple lifetime streams. Some are generational and are tied to sometbing nown as family karma. Often the women of a family will have one kind of entity while the males will have a different kind that are often similar to one another. They will often grow to attract people who have entities like the women in their families. These will not be related through direct energetic lines but will be related only because the samscaras in everyone in the family are so often related. The beings do not create the wound, you do. They are in many respects multidimensional and slip between worlds because they do not take bodies by incarnating. They instead take up residence in your own body or field. Their landing pads can be our bodies.
They are in the process of learning how they can be autonomous and able to draw sustaining energy from the universe…whether they know it or not. They will learn quicker if we offer them the opportunity through support to know their connection to Source. I am suggesting that you at least help them in being more aware…..to the degree that they are able.
I dont think you will be used to hearing his message given in this way, but the time for “fighting” demons is over. This type of process will always lead to trouble. This paternal or more male way of approaching it has run its course. We are now bringing in the power of the feminine aspects of the self, and this means that instead of pushing them out, we now pull hem in and help them transform. Instead of being pushed out, we pull them up and help them transform. Instead of pushing out, we coaxe them up and thus out. They are given the awareness that they are connected to Source…and without putting them on the defensive, we give them a gift. We dont struggle and fight, we bring peace and perspective. The old way is based on an incomplete understanding how things can be.
True protection is in not having an enemy to fight. The message that the Matrix movies struggled to say is that there IS no war except the one we are creating…but they fell short…so close…and when Neo overcame the Smiths by embracing them and their system in order to seed that part of ourselves with new awareness. Well…they were so close, but the fighting raged on because the writer was stuck in the old even as he was trying to embrace the new.

There is some suggestion that kundalini/awakening serves to create a sheath of protection around you. The Gnostic tradition goes into it.  This is old stuff. Its also not correct either. You are simply more aware now, or potentially so. I know numerous people who many years into awakening continue to harbor these presences. One is on her way to being a healer while carrying around two very troublesome entities. Its easy to think you have suddenly become a master of the universe when you awaken while not tending to removing these things. Doing so, though, accelerates your own development and helps to drop your reactivity to a host of issues. It can, in some cases, change the nature of events.

I once had a worker who had an entity not unlike one that I removed from the person I once thought was my soul twin. I swear, it was like some kind of convention. The whole time he was working for me the strangest most innexplicable things would go wrong to shut down production for weeks at a time. It was persistent and chronic and did not change until he quit working for me. While this was going on, I was having dreams that were showing me the subtle ways that these more advanced beings control events by hooking into our energy and the space/time flow of our lives. And why? To what end? To keep up an environment that is what they like or are familiar with. If you were born in strife and only knew strife, you too might seek strife unknowingly. You might create opportunities for it to occur only because its a pattern that is familiar to you. This is one way that they operate. Its really about what their comfort level is. Its upsetting to us because much larger parts of us are healed and intact, with only portions of ourselves having a weak spot, which is where these beings are attracted.

The Role Of The Healer

A healer can help if they themselves do not bear a similar wound as the person they are healing. Otherwise, they will be ineffective. It is also possible that they dont know how to remove them. It is  possible to attract a healer who has similar problems as you, in which case whatever needs healing probably wont be healed in the way you had hoped. It is also possible to attract the perfect healer for that moment.
The healer who worked with me explained that she saw definite patterns or correlations between what she was working on and the clients who came to her over the years. Bear in mind, her business was built on word of mouth, she does very little to actively seek out clients, they instead seek her.
When she was dealing with ghost phenomenon, she was having a lot of clients who were having “ghost” issues too. When she was able to resolve the issue she was having with this phenomenon, the people with ghost issues also went away. This happened over and over for her and helped her to see how the world becomes like a mirror to us.

What a healer does best is by communicating via the body-the light body to be exact. What they do is they read you, see where the problem is, and then they show through feeling how you can feel without the entity there. This is what my own healer called “surrogating.” She didnt have entity issues because she had done the work to get there, so she could supply the feeling telepathically of what a clearer field feels like. This is one of the central skills of a healer. It is also why I do not seek healers, I ask for the healer who is in my highest to come to me. I dont  push the river. But when I do it this way, miracles happen. I have had some of the best and most perfect healers appear in places that are almost unvelievable. Two out of three of these healers wound up either teaching or working within a few blocks from my home, for example. When I give up control the universe is free to create with me the most optimal and perfect type of events to help move me to the next step or level. By trusting in the wave in pranic force, you can have amazing things happen that feel miraculous only because they happen so fast and are so easy. You just have to be open to it and have no beliefs that compete with it that will muddle or throw the energy off. Anyone can do this. It is simply going from seeking/initiating to receiving/allowing.

She and I communicated energetically like everyone does all the time in day to day life (and are often unaware that they are doing so) but in this case she was focused very simply in her state of freedom when the healing work was being done. I began picking up on this because I was receptive to what she was doing. It is true that this kind of healing can happen while enjoying a cup of coffee, or talking on the phone. Most of the healing was done at a distance of thousands of miles.

All of this is being done at the level of energy, and energy is nonlinear, has little or no mass, and is not always bound by space/time. This means healing can be done very easily from a distance.

Receptivity is important on your side as the one being healed, just as the healer being neutral is important on their end. By neutral I mean that they are not getting an ego boost from this work. Receptive means your intuitive mind is active and you are feeling and not being stuck in your head with strings of rationalizing. You get empty and quiet, save for a sense of excited expectation. You get into body focus, the domain of the light body, which is where feeling resides. You are ready.

Then the healer swaps your perception….by their simply being them. You might not even know this is happening because we are all so used to being in our heads. You have to relax and let your guard down. This will not feel foreign in any way.You probably wont notice it. It is like a dance teacher who uses their hands to show you how to move your leg, or arm, for example. The move will be completely your own….just as how you feel will be completely your own as well.

Then, if you are ready to make a change, you will begin to be aware of the entity (s) in some way. This might happen right away, it could happen later, or in dreaming. Whatever avenue is best suited to your turn of mind, it will come.
Once you see them as they are, these beings cannot stay if your desire is for them to leave. The very act of awareness on your part begins the shift into healing and the vibratory rate changes (often piecemeal, but it changes nonetheless).

The healer lets you remove these by way of this new awareness they have given you. You are the healer. And this is the mark of a good healer; they bring you awareness and you do the rest. They are reminding you how you can feel inside by associating with you. And Their field of energy is used as a template, a reminder, for how you can be or feel. It is this change that is the initiation of healing. We pattern our children in the same way just by how we feel. Yes, actions count, but this persistent field of influence has a significant effect on people, you see.

This is why I can, for example, trigger the ability to see auras in another person, something that has happened a number of times in the past. It is merely a transmission of a pattern of energy that a person accepts. It is almost like a piece of code that then runs in them the same way it ran or worked in me. It is also how awakening energy is “transferred” from person to person. It is receptivity to a pattern, a line of code that gets taken on and allows for something new to be experienced. In many ways this is the fastest way to awaken, which is to be around the awakened. Just be aware of how you are attracting. If you attract based on something unhealed in you that is not healed in them, this can get magnified or reinforced during awakening. It isn’t always that a pattern is being transferred, but that there is something in common that gets magnified. I have found this happening to me in a soul connection, which was extremely difficult, and led to my having to part ways with this person because of how hard the hurt that was unresolved was. It pays to be observant of the deeper dynamics. Your feeling self, that clear voice, will tend to guide you very well if you don’t over think it.

Miraculous healings are the result of changing large sections of this “code” in ourselves. It can lead to immediate changes. Sometimes the healer does something to create a trigger point for the acceptance of the change….it could be belief, it could be ritual movements, crystals, music, beads, just about anything. Really, anything will work if faith is put into it. Faith or belief becomes the portal for change. But objects are not necessary; awareness of energy and seeking the highest is. Remember Jesus saying how it was the faith that had healed the man? That is the same thing taking place.

These beings do best when they keep their head low. They often fly under the radar. They cant rock the boat too much or they could find themselves homeless, so they often try to keep in the background..
I know people completely unaware that they harbor an entity. Not all are expressly negative, but they will always be holding a person back from greater growth in some way.
For some of you, you might feel like an entity most certainly does not fly under the radar, but this might well be because it is being triggered so frequently. Deep down, these beings don’t know how to be any different. Also, this level of activity can point to how active your own wound is.

When my healer began to talk with me over the phone, we were talking about the issue while I was driving in the car. It was a suggestion she made that I would become aware that an entity was there. Before she could finish her sentence, up popped a face in my third eye. I was surprised that it would work so fast. The face looking back at me didnt look human, and boy was it pissed! My inner sight showed five presences there with one main being resting near my heart center. As soon as I saw them, really saw them, they were gone. I describe them like pigeons being shooed out of an attic space. Gone! And they have never returned. The being that was mad was angry for a brief moment and was angry because it had been discovered, really seen.

Go Beyond Reason

The way forward is to claim your power. This is not an aggressive act or done out of anger, its simply what is yours. Part of this is learning how to navigate through the ether field. You have to get out of your head, out of your reasoning mind, because the universe only responds to feeling. The more you can feel, the better able you can understand this world within you and in the things of the world.

When I say feeling, I dont mean emotion. I mean your capacity to register sensory information internally (nonphysical inner sensory data) and learn how to distinguish between your feeling and that of the ether or universe. You use feeling to learn and discover what exists in this field (a limitless library of information).

This is the opposite of reason, you see. It is a state of receptivity, and feeling allows you to create a living form from the universe within you. This is how it is done. The more you bring in imagination, the more vivid the thing is that you have just picked up on and received.
You can do this in regards to your own healing and for learning more about these entities in order to release them.

The best way to do this is to explain to them that they have a direct connection to Source, that they dont need to be attached to you in this way, and that by letting go, they can begin to discover limitless energy. Hold space for the highest to happen, that they might grow interested in what this light is all about. Imagine their connecting to their higher self and see them merging into light.

When I removed the entity that had dogged “twin” for so long, this was what I explained to it before sending it on its way. I connected to its mind and explained what an amazing new world awaited it. It needed to find its own connection to Source so it could have all the energy that it needed. Then, I just felt this very sure and powerful force rise up through me that was like an opposing magnetism to this being. I increased the field strength until it moved far away.

This being did return, though, the following day, but because twins energy and mine were entangled, the entity could not get through. I simply repeated the same thing, entirely through feeling, that repelled the being for good.

If efforts at clearing an entity dont work, it is often because you have yet to find the point of contact (or your own wound). Find that and heal it and there is nothing for the entity to grab hold of. In the mean time it might play on your fears to keep the condition stable for it but unstable for you. You deal with this by not falling for whatever the emotion is, and by being ready to change the pattern.

Visualization work and affirmations can be helpful if those affirmations carry a desire or intent for real change. For as much as twin said she was tired of the entity, she also admitted that it was something of a guilty pleasure. By removing the entity, I gave her enough room to begin working on what that rather broken pleasure was about. But as a healer, I dont get to decide how the other heals, they do. They are the healer.

State of mind is central to all of this. Feeling and receptivity are foundational. Seeking the broken place and releasing it will knit you back together. Seeking the highest and asking for it while being open to the univere bringing it is huge. Get out of the rational mind and into the expansive cosmic mind. Use that to begin learning about the etheric. Meditate. Learn how to do breath work for relaxing and centering into cosmic mind. Ask. Then wait. Ask to be shown. Keep your eyes open.

There are many very good ways to release trauma, the source of these issues. I have a good trauma release exercise HERE . Chi Gong is helpful as are other forms of movement to free up emotional armoring. Body work such as deep tissue massage with an energy worker can do wonders. Reiki in some cases can help and cranio massage therapy can be deeply healing by teaching you to trust. Acupressure can be good if you have a well attunef attuned healer, and there are healers like my own who dont even need to touch to do their work.
Now, I realize that this may not e enough for some of you, so a simple exercise is in order. I want ou to et comfortable and allow yourself to get relaxed. I want ou to breathe through our nose and out through your mouth. These breaths need to be deep and long. You should pause two to three seconds at the top and bottom of each breath. You should do this for about five minutes. If you find it hard to remember what you were thinking about moments before, this is an excellent sign that ts working. You need to breathe until you feel relaxed and calm.

The next step is to begin to take an inventory of your body. You need to begin to feel for all of the places where you feel tightness or resistance. Dont second-guess yourself: if its in your big toe, take note of it. And dont worry if there are a lot, just take note of it. These places will be where you will need to begin by focusing your breath into those places. Doing this helps to send a stream of prana into the block. If you do this diligently, each day or three times a week, you will find success. Envision the tightness as being loose.

Then, by inducing shaking into the core of the body, and breathing deep, you can begin to peel away the layers of stored trauma bit by bit. This technique can be found on Youtube. There are dozens of these videos by numerous practitioners. It can be done lying on your back and letting the shaking do its work. As you move along, you will develop greater awareness of what is happening in your body. This will take time, but it will likely become one of the most important work you will do.
By using intent, and feeling, and the technique I just described, you can begin to be the master of your own being.

I hope this helps. I hope it can lead you to work that will give you the confidence necessary to take you to the next step, to the next level. Being able to enjoy your life is so crucial, and being able to clean things up some is one way to begin doing that.
Until next time, my bearers of light…

Many speak of the veil thinning. But really what is this veil? Why is there a veil?

Some think it serves a purpose. Some think it was put here by spiritual beings who did not have our higher evolution in mind. But this veil is in truth none of these things. The veil has been an act of narrowing our awareness along one singular, but binary, path. Binary means that there is another compliment, a compliment that is missing. It is this missing part that has created the veil. Since it is self created, this means it can be unmade.

We live in a world where we are so focused on the physical senses and locked in the rational mind whilst wondering what happened to that something “more” never realizing that we each have fallen under the spell of this type of focus.

Taking responsibility for our awareness and how we perceive how unaware we are is what brings each person back to a place where this veil will begin to thin, then fall away to greater and lesser degrees depending on the focus of consciousness and the needs of the individual.

The veil is within. It is no longer necessary for it to remain. Our need to stay so focused is not needed for survival, and is leaving the species in a monodimensionality experience cut off, seemingly, from the kingdom that is within.

I grew up with experiences that showed me that the world of consensus reality was only a limited and lopsided view.At a very young age I was having out of body experiences, dreams that would come true, and indications that the world around me was imbued with a deeper reality, a validity all its own, and it lay largely hidden behind the veil of my physical senses. As I grew I learned that people, because they did not witness this world, did not believe it existed. And that was just the problem; their belief became the way this veil thickened, effectively trapping them in 3-D awareness. I went along with it, but I knew the full story had not been told. I knew better, despite the desire in everyone to drive their belief into everyone.

You can break out of this self made prison. You need only inquire. Since the other side of our awareness takes in the inner senses, then it will most likely be through them that you will begin to see things more as they are.

Meditation is one simple first step. If you do yoga, don’t get hung up on being an athlete, but seek instead for the places that it softens your inner resistance. Yoga was first intended to unify not just body and mind, but the lost part that is our mind. So feel for those softening places, the parts that feel that they are about to let go an avalanche. You have to experience a few inner mud slides before enough material is removed for you to begin to see this more. A part of you might feel it is being undone. Don’t worry; there is always an intelligence there in moments such as these that will guide quietly even if you are not yet ready to know it’s presence.

A good out of body experience is enough to show you this something more. Since you use your inner senses when projecting consciousness, this is a very good way to become acquainted with them.

Follow your instincts. Be ready to also examine them as well. An instinct built on bias and fear is not going to convey the bigger picture to you. Always hone, always winnow the chaff from the wheat. And be ready to test your senses. It will show you where you are still deficient, and it may help you to improve.

Some hemisync CD’s can serve to sync both hemispheres of the brain better. I found this played a useful part in my awakening when done at the right stage of the process. Then focusing on the third eye is another way to begin activating all the other centers. This was what Jesus was eluding to in Luke when he spoke of making the two eyes into one, thus filling the self with light. The two physical eyes looks into the one chakra center because it’s “in” your vision all the time. Close your eyes and focus on the center of vision and do nothing else. Don’t expect, don’t try. Just do this while in a deep state of relaxation. You don’t even need to do it for long periods. I activated the third eye after no more that ten or fifteen minutes of quiet focus. You will know it is working when you feel pressure spreading out from the third eye all across your head. Again, you only need to witness, don’t try to do anything. There is nothing in your rational mind that is going to do anything to help. This feels like the opposite of doing, and it is perhaps why so few “get it” and stop only steps from the trigger point.

You can imagine an energy made up of two stands of energy, bound together, that rises up from the earth and up to the crown of your head. In a book on pranayam yoga, whose purpose it is to prepare for kundalini had all of one sentence in the whole book about how to awaken kundalini. Why? Because it is just that simple. You imagine a current or energy moving upwards through the chakras and the trunk of the body. That is it. It is this simple. Gopi Krishna, the author of a book considered a classic in the field, was using this very method or visualization technique.

“But what if I do it wrong?” Is often the refrain. After all, didn’t Gopi say he didn’t awaken his kundalini correctly? Gopi was not able to allow the feminine side of the force to fully enter his awareness, so that it made him feel out of balance. I know what Hopi was doing, and it had little to do with “raising it wrong.” Gopi was resisting his feminine aspect due to a deep fear that became his resistance and kept his feminine from giving him the balance that he needed. The feminine was still there, you can’t have kundalini without it. It is a two-in-one energy, and the force cones from both present. Gopi’s trouble lay in simple resistance.
If you read a few posts back I mention how if you resist kundalini, it will kick your butt. When you do this, you develop physical symptoms of pain. It is a terrible situation. Gopi was in just such a condition. Being from a culture with such strong paternalism present, it is easy to see how hard it was for him to acknowledge this aspect of his higher self. But the higher self viewed through the lens of kundalini makes the higher self incredibly strong. To resist in the middle of this growing awareness means trouble. So let go. You will thank me for it later.

You do not raise kundalini the wrong way. You can only seek to deny aspects of its true nature, which is your true nature. When you allow it to be itself more fully, it will make you into a model of itself. It is a bridge to the cosmos. Let kubdalini do its work clearing the path to this bridge within. The only thing it is doing is showing who you are free from your limitations that are entirely self made.
When kundalini rose I was not sitting in full or half lotus. I was not using breath work taught to me by my guru. Heck, I didn’t even have a guru! I had no belief, no method, and NO teacher. The energy IS the teacher. When I read blogs of Indian gurus talking about how you can’t awaken without diksha or shaktipot, or anything you try to do on your own is WRONG, well, it’s enough proof to me that there is something awry here. And yes, many well-intended gentlemen of the Indian persuasion have seen to it to explain kindly to me that no way did I awaken kundalini….because of…..well….diksha….guru….lotus…and on and on. And I am one of THOUSANDS who are awakening this way. So there. 🙂

Releasing stored trauma is another critical step in waking up to this world within. In a recent post I have provided you with a tried and true trauma release method only recently gaining use for all sorts of stored emotional material. The less you have of it, the easier kundalini will flow.

People ask for methods, and so now you have them. But as you move into this, consider your life and whether you have the support for it. In my case, I had no support at all, but once I was in the flow, events unfolded in perfect timing to bring me exactly what I needed in the form of teachers along the way. I could not have gotten as good helpers if I had tried for years searching. Do you see? All of this begins to be like it has already been arranged, because in a very real way, it has.

This is how you thin the veil. It is you. You release what holds an awareness of this other world at bay. It is all within your power to change all of it and see with new eyes and a renewed mind and heart.
Blessings to you on your path….
“O, You who are ever giving life to all life, moving all creatures, root of all things, washing them clean, wiping out their mistakes, healing their wounds, You are our true  life, luminous, wonderful, awakening the heart from its ancient sleep.” -Hildegard of Bingen

The third eye and the pineal gland. Nothing excites seekers more than the connection between these two things. Except, there is absolutely no connection between the two whatsoever. I know, huge buzz kill, right? But if you were really interested in spiritual growth, wouldn’t you want to get this stuff right? I know how cool the pineal sounds, but if you pay close attention to every single person talking and writing about this topic, none of them are able to explain any connection between the third eye and the pineal. At all. Instead they point to the pineal as photoreceptive…. because they think this must explain the connection. It doesn’t. It doesn’t because the third eye has always been an entirely nonphysical sense. Remember the term “the mind’s eye”? This is the eye that the ancients have referenced for millennia.

Glands are built out of physical matter for dealing with the physical.  Inner senses such as the third eye are not made out of physical matter, are instead part of an energetic system, and thus exhibit definite characteristics that are directly attributed to nonphysical or energetic senses.  Period.  No one confuses the sensory powers of any other chakra center like we do with the third eye and the pineal gland.
Anyone who has had a full-fledged awakening almost always experiences a third eye opening, and this experience is VASTLY different from the one so often described with activations prior to awakening. You might ask why awakening is so important, which is a very good question. The answer is prana or chi/qi.
The connection between the significant pranic flow during awakening serves to open the third eye in a way most never experience. To open a center in this way requires a stronger flow of this energy we call Chi or prana.  There is no way around this: you  need the additional energy to bring on a full opening. This activation on a permanent basis comes about as a result of years of practice and familiarity for most people as well as the secret to awakening, which is something that has been a closely-held secret for many centuries (and in our current era the cat is out of the bag). The action of prana is very important for full activation of the chakras and the sensory capabilities some of them have. Just like a radio running on low power will have trouble bringing in a signal, so too does the energy body have difficulty picking up and then translating the signal. With enough energy, your inner sensing is much clearer. Prana is what boosts that signal, which essentially allows one to tune into these subtle-body sensations, effectively bringing them into focus.

I’m telling you this as someone who went through this. I also know numerous others who have had the same experience. Somewhere along the line someone drew a connection and then no one ever bothered to question it. I know; the pineal sure sounds cool, but it’s job is as a gland and has no part in psychic ability.  And yet, almost universally, people pick up this idea that the pineal is the third eye and they run with it.  I assure you that the function of the pineal is very different than that of the real third eye.  It isn’t coincidental that the pineal is located in the center of the head near the brain where sleep chemistry is created (the pineal secretes melatonin which regulates our sleep cycles).

When you awaken, you do so with an awareness that shifts from the physical senses towards the inner senses. Even in the Hindu and Taoist texts related to awakening the writings are replete with description for how the mind turns to a world of awareness that is nonphysical in nature, an awareness of the forgotten “other side of the coin” of our experience. The energy current changes, according to certain Hindu texts and begins turning in the other direction so that one becomes more focused or aware of inner phenomenon instead of just what is outside and known through the physical senses.

In fact, this “turning” is described as a sudden awareness of self in light of the force now flowing in abundance which is called prana. Not entirely physical, but able to penetrate and nurture the physical body by virtue of its stimulating nature, this extremely fine vibrational energy straddles both physical matter and pure consciousness. The “body” that conducts awareness is our very consciousness. This body, which is nonphysical, has complimentary senses like those in the physical body. In truth, the physical senses are aspects of our so-called “inner senses.”

Who you are beyond your physical body includes the physical senses but are also so much more. Being an eternal soul means that you have all kinds of senses that are native to your consciousness. Any body you take will naturally reflect to some degree the senses that are native to you beyond the physical.

Prana, or chi, interpenetrates all matter and is an aspect of matter. Remember E=MC2? This means that matter and energy are equivalent with one another. Change the vibration of energy and you will wind up with matter. Change the vibration of matter, and you get energy (they took this theorem and built the atomic bomb with it, you see). As a result, you can read where prana has been in a very real sense, which makes it possible to pick up information from a distance (which those who tune in with their nonphysical senses are learning how to do). Prana, having no mass, is completely unrestrained by the physical world. This also means that it has “nonlocality” which means that you can detect things beyond your immediate environment as well as those phenomenon that are “beyond” the physical.  You can pick up on these things because prana or chi is everywhere and your consciousness is made up of prana. As you might have inferred by now, this provides a rather amazing capacity for sensory experience provided there is a sense that can detect these kinds of things which prana as energy makes possible. Now imagine physical senses being able to pick up on this kind of energetic phenomenon.  It is kind of laughable, right?  So when I was seeing a friends house who I had never met but only knew online and had never had described to me came through loud and clear as a series of rich and vivid inner visual sensory experiences that wound up being right on the mark were all possible not with my physical eyes (this person lived 1500 miles away after all—I don’t think my vision has the ability to see through the curvature of the earth let alone objects from that distance, do you?). And yet, when I sent my list of impressions which included the color of walls and lighting, where they were located, thelocation of the apartment within the larger building, the layout of the apartment, where the bathroom was, the two bedrooms, as well as the hidden kitchen, my impressions were all correct.  So too were my impressions about pretty granular details like the shape, size, and materials used for the windows in the apartment as well as where the windows were located in each room.  It turned out that I had 95% accuracy on all of my impressions.  This wasn’t just dumb luck, either.  I wasn’t just imagining it, I was tuning in to this person’s home and was able to do so as an amateur remote viewer because I was so engaged, focused, and willing to connect with this person.

If you have trouble with this idea, then imagine a vast network of energy that is in everything down to the smallest and largest of scales. Now imagine that your consciousness has the capacity to detect this network and “read” what is there, courtesy of the energy that is in all of matter. Oh, and one more thing; this energy is sentient, so it isn’t like the brute force of electrity, say, but of something that you can very much feel as alive. Since it is in everything and has an advanced form of consciousness, I think of it was belonging to a superconsciousness which might be what we want to think of as God or any one of the many gods that we have as humans have dreamed up over our storied past.

The third eye has long been known to be a powerful center linked to the arousal of kundalini. This etheric center is both energy vortex, or chakra, as well as an inner sensory channel. Called the ajna chakra by the Hindu, it is located along the brow between the two physical eyes. You can feel the third eye or ajna chakra activating when you feel a point of pressure in the third eye region.

Prior to the full “rising” of kundalini, I had a whole series of very unusual experiences that each, in turn, aided in my awakening process. I was aware of something within me that was guiding me step by step more deeply into the unfolding of my inner awareness that enabled the kindling of the force that is prana in abundance.i was careful to keep notes of my adventures in consciousness and was able to confirm my inner sensory information with things that were well beyond my physical capacity to have ever detected them (including subatomic phenomenon that has had a number of affirmations through the research done by quantum physicists over the years as well as recent discoveries being made).  It is hard to believe that there are senses so powerful and so far-reaching as the inner senses.  It is hard for most ordinary folks because the physical is all they have experinece with.  I am here, though, to tell you there is more, and that for each physical sense you have, you have a compliment of it in the nonphyiscal awareness or nonphysical self.

What needs to be understood by those who spread this idea that the third eye is somehow tied to the pineal gland is that the whole of the physical body, which is made up of matter, can only detect other material that is made out of it. Ears are designed to detect a very specific vibrational range of energy that is being expressed as sound. The eyes are designed to detect visible light. Taste is designed to detect the character of flavors in foods. All of this is physical.  What the chakra centers detect, though, is energetic. What I do when I sense something from a distance is I am able to feel how whatever I am sensing feels, be it a person or a rock.  When it comes to the energetic sensing, I tend to FEEL the inside of everything instead of seeing it or sensing it outwardly, which is the way we do with our physical senses.

The experience of inner sensory perception only seems physical because you are in a body and usually concerned with what is happening in the physical, but these senses are in no way limited to the physical, and can be turned to anything that you seek to inquire about. Your brain deftly turns psychic energy into recognizable patterns in the same way that it takes electrical signals and turns them into images or some other sensory experience. It does the exact same thing with inner imagery gleaned from the inner senses. It is pretty brilliant once you dig in and think about it for a while.

So a primer for what the pineal gland is about…
The pineal gland regulates sleep cycles and secretes melatonin. It does this by way of its photo receptivity. When the sun shines, melatonin is suppressed. However, in the presence of warm light, melatonin is steadily produced. This production of melatonin helps us to feel drowsy and to drop off to sleep. When the sun is at mid-day the light is a bluish white light.  This type of light is the light so many people have been having trouble with their electronic devices such as phones and flat screen t.v.’s which render whites as slightly bluish light.  This has had the effect of messing with a lot of people’s melatonin production at critical times in the evenining resulting in a rash of problems related to being able to get to sleep. The result was that by looking at white light sources so late in the day people’s melatonin production has been suppressed.  As a result of this many devices have an “evening” setting which shifts all whites into a warmer spectrum of color after about 7:00 p.m. or later, which is exactly what the pineal needs in order to be triggered to produce melatonin.
When you DO use your third eye, you are not looking outward, but inward in order to focus into that vibrational frequency that will allow you to detect objects and events at a considerable distance. This includes things taking place on the other side of the planet and even far out into space. And yes, this type of sensing is common once the third eye chakras has been properly opened, used, and understood. I doubt that when I was sensing the apartment of a friend 1500 miles away with pinpoint accuracy that I was using any form of a physical gland or organ at all. In fact, there is growing evidence to suggest that the world that we think as being so physically solid is in fact just an energetic construct and that there is a kind of energetic field of energy that helps to define everything that exists in our universe.  I have found Rupert Sheldrake’s work to be the most coincident with my own observations, and he has described what he thinks is a bank or field of energy that defines everything that exists in the physical universe, a kind of energetic blueprint that changes as situations change here on the ground, which makes it not monolithic but flexible and highly capable of change.

The wonderful thing is that you can do exactly as I have done, which is to  investigate all of this for yourself.  You can actually use your own consciousness to begin detecting this information on your own.  But until you do, try not to jump to any conclusions about pineal glands or any gland for that matter as somehow being tied to enlightenment.  The business of enlightnement has been clearly and positively located as being a part of the energy body.  This exists at a much simpler and far more perrennial positionw tihin the self than one could ever have imagined.  What I am encouraging you to do is to follow the trail set down by countless others who have awakened this inner sense and begin testing it to see for yourself. I also urge you not to just take my word for it. And if you want instruction on how to awaken, I am happy to oblige but with the caveat that it is an intense experience that will wreck your life and set it back right again.  it is difficult because the change is so rapid. If you are ready for such a seemingly disasterous situation, then you are ready to step on that road from which there is no return (I am joking because no one wants to return once they have stepped on this path).

I hope that this has served to help raise awareness about this subject.
In my next post I will provide a simple method for awakening both the third eye and consciousness. It is an ancient and extremely simple system that I employed that yielded results. I did not know at the time that this was an ancient technique, however.

~Nemaste~

You know that pranic movement leads to greater awareness of subconscious material. You know that prana brings awareness.
So inevitably there is a point in awakening when all manner of hard emotions gets dredged up as a result of this.

One is fear. But fear is very tricky, you see, because of how self-reinforcing it is. It is an emotional trap that can capture a person and keep them imprisoned.

Some people repress their fear, which leaves what was creating the fear safely hidden deep in the subconscious.

Sometimes people will only let fear share a small place in their conscious awareness so it does not take them over. Again, the reason for the fear remains like a weed whose leaves sprout up into the conscious self and are tended carefully by the personal will of the self.

In awakening, though, fear and it’s chemical mirror, adrenaline, can rise up and show itself in all of its powerful glory. In truth, this can be overwhelming. But hang on; ask yourself what is really happening here. What is happening is prana is merely increasing your awareness so that you now feel more of the fear. At this point, though, you are only looking at the branches growing out of your subconscious, with the root of of the problem lying deeper within. You are being shown a problem, you see, and now you need to be able to go deeper to root it out from the subconscious.

There is a problem with this situation, which is how fear begets more fear. In order to draw it out, you need a steady sense of calm. Adrenaline does not keep you calm.
You need to learn how to tame the beast first, then draw it out by healing it. You no longer just calm yourself and then try to forget about it, which is what most people do to cope, but use the fear as a huge sign that is telling you right where the fear is. Now, instead of running from it, you wisely use this as a blessing.

You now have been shown where a wound exists. You know that it revolves around fear, and you can also know what kinds of events serve to activate it by simply observing yourself carefully like an observer.

In the beginning of this kind of work, what is often felt can be the kind of fear that is primal, utterly irrational. All of this winds up looking like a tangled mess, which it often is, but lying at the core is often a very simple and utterly uncomplicated event that sparked the fear, which is most often a trauma (s) from your past.  You might have no earthly idea where it is coming from.

Fear that is strong enough and persistent enough can lead to a deep sense of dread, horror, even….with no known cause (especialy when kundalini awakens-even though pranic force will in the end lead you to healing it….but just not immediately if adrenaline has “got” you).

The worst thing you can do is to react to fear. It can leave you feeling like a deer in the headlights. It can lead you to chaotic behavior and it can make your life hellish. Reacting to it, you feed it. You begin triggering the adrenal response with still more adrenaline.

My dark time with adrenaline stretched into months. It was one of the top five hardest parts of kundalini rising. Besides leading to adrenal burnout, collapse, or adrenal failure, it is very hard on your body. I have a good family friend who had to seek medical attention to restart her adrenals after a long continuous bout with fear and anxiety connected to her awakening experience. However, conquering fear is one of the biggest victories in an awakening because fear robs you of energy that could be used for things like it’s opposites such as love and joy. Love cannot properly grow and flourish when fear and its counterpart hatred are taking up your attention.

Most fear is irrational for the very fact that when you are working from a trauma in the past, fear can color everything you see and blinding you from seeing the world as it is. When you are sitting in the quiet of your room trying to meditate and all you can feel is that piercing pain down deep into the core of you, all you are doing is dredging up feelings from the past. To heal the past, you must bring awareness into the moment. The fear might not be connected to anything in particular, but you will still need to learn how to recognize it in order to move on. This can be the alchemical moment where a giant ball of “yuck” gets transmuted into bliss. Yes, really. So how to do this?

Learn to bring forward and cultivate the Witness. Stand back and watch. See what slight deviation in feeling can shift you out, even for a moment, of fear and adrenaline. Over and over, watch what you are doing to break the adrenaline train. If you are caught in a recursive pattern of fear, you might need to study this in small snatches, those moments when you feel adrenaline subside. Watch and ask yourself what was it that caused the shift to happen. You might have to spend days, weeks even, of watching when these subsidences happen and then identify what it was that did it for you.  Then you can learn to direct your mind to different feeling states that bring on greater bliss and train your mind to remain there for longer and longer periods. Leave healing the source of the fear for now because once you can feel bliss, the issue that caused the fear may naturally dissolve, or you will be naturally guided to how to heal it when you are ready. If you have experience with awakening then surely you have experience with this particular phenomenon.

You want to find ways to lessen the adrenal response, and in the beginning, anything that gives you relief is good (short of medicating yourself-this only delays the process of inner transformation). Watch what shifts you out of the fear and duplicate it in order to extend it. This is for cases of extreme adrenal response. You need a coping mechanism so that you can later deal with the root cause of the fear. Your body will follow you like an obedient shadow.

By feeling this deeply, your body is washing itself of fear, but it is you who must root out the fear locked in the body and tell yourself that this fear is only in the past. This moment now is entirely new.
Over time you train yourself how to step out of fear.

Surrender can help, but this can be tricky at first. Sometimes it can feel impossible to break out of the cycle because it can be so overwhelming. If adrenaline is this bad, it is important to be able to trigger bliss. Surrender can sometimes feel like you will just make it worse. What is true is that by resisting (anything) emotionally, bliss can turn into a nightmare. I know how crazy this sounds. But part of bliss includes healthy adrenal output. Dopamine all on its own will leave you so dreamy and blessed out that you won’t be able to focus on anything except the bliss. A small bit of adrenaline is an accompaniment to the awakened state, but if you have latent fear, the adrenals can shift into high gear and stay there, overpowering the dopamine high and bringing such terrible feelings. It is here that you can manifest paranoia, which is a problem all its own.

Breath work is something that can be very useful in breaking the fear. This breath needs to be slow, deep, and even . I began mimicking the type of breathing I noticed in sleeping people. It worked very well. Alternating nostril breath can be very helpful, and has been used for centuries to stimulate and balance prana through the two channels of yin and yang energies (Ida and Pengali). Try four slow breaths in and out per nostril, holding each nostril closed as you do this, repeating this four times. Continue this at least four times.
Cranial Sacral massage is very good at getting you relaxed and going deep.

When you get in a fix with adrenaline and fear, believing you need to stay there to soak it in is poppy-cock. The only purpose these negative states serve is to help you in not feeling them anymore. That’s right-flee the building as soon as possible. You will be able to release this fear once adrenaline has moderated.

Music can help, guided imagery for relaxation, and even eating have all been ways I have been able to step out of the pain of the fear body. Climb out and don’t look back. Later, you can release any block you need, but for most people, doing this while the body is in full flame is very difficult. If you respond from a place of fear, you won’t be able to release anything. You will just marinate in it. Once you conquer fear, you can then release the “split” or block.

So often, it is fear alone that keeps you locked in a recursive loop that has to be broken before substantive change can happen. If the block is in you and you are afraid of it, you won’t be able to do this release work. You will simply fear the block too much.

There are other therapies for dealing with fear, adrenaline, and kundalini, and these are included in my blog under adrenaline. Do a search and you will find much more.

If you are experiencing adrenal overload, it’s not easy, but it can teach you a high level of mastery over what appears to be involuntary.

It has been my feeling that when you can learn to use your inner senses that it helps to reveal to you an aspect of the world and of yourself that helps brings wonder and understanding to you.  Not long ago I was talking with my daughter, who for years had been told by her mother that her Dad was off his rocker when it came to my experiences in my inner life.  So I said to her that I could show her how to read auras.  I’d give her the master class over the summer so she could judge on her own just whose rocker belonged to who.  Its okay to be a skeptic.  In fact, its really important that you question the world around you, including claims about psi ability.  However, when you are faced with an ability like reading the aura, a whole new wrinkle in how you may have thought the world works opens up. And it is in this new view into the world that its important to test your abilities to make sure that YOU are comfortable with what it is that you think you are seeing or picking up on.

Let me explain what I mean.  When I first began seeing auras, I was lucky that I had a few friends who also were able to see them.  I utilized one friend’s ability as a type of “control” over about a year period as I tested what it was that I was seeing with my “new vision.”  We developed a kind of code that we used whenever we were out and about and I wanted to test what it was that I was seeing in the moment.  The code would be “What about that guy [pointing] up ahead in the fedora hat?”  for example.  She would then tune in and tell me what she saw.  The method was that I never revealed to her what it was I was seeing, I just wanted her to tune into a given person to test what it was I was seeing.  This was how I conducted a lot of my tests.  However, I also did other types of tests, too.

On the first day that I began to see auras, I was in a college classroom.  I had read about auras and had even known someone the previous summer who could see them, and I was fascinated with the idea that people could do this, so I learned a few things about it before I had begun to see them.  When I realized I was likely seeing them, I noticed some things right away that I remembered from my reading in a book about them.  While I was seeing this guy’s aura in class I noticed that he had these orange-yellow spires coming off his shoulders.  Everyone else’s aura was uniform around their bodies.  I surmized that this may have been the presence of pain in his physical body for some reason.  My classmate did not show outward signs of this pain, he just sat there in class like the rest of us.  Because he was someone from my dorm who lived on my floor, I walked up to him after class was through and said hello and clasped his shoulder gently in my welcome.  He winced and I pulled back asking if he was alright.  He explained that he had been lifting weights the previous evening with friends at the gym and had overdone it. His shoulders hurt!  “Huh” I thought.  I filed this bit of information away for later.

Over the following year I did countless “tests” like these, asking friends about what it was that I say in their energy field after I had seen evidence of something there previously.  I was able to build a rather large bank of information about the nature of the human energy field as a result of this that helped me to understand what I was seeing and also, perhaps more importantly, to show to myself and anyone else, that what I was seeing was beyond ordinary physical perception.

I will tell you that one of the last times that I actively read an aura was when I had the occasion to see Jane Goodall speak at a local school a few years ago.  We were in fairly close quarters in a small auditorium and found that I was seeing her energy.  For years I have not actively tuned in to energy in this way, but when I began seeing the flashes, I thought what the heck….and as I did, I was able to see something that I had seen on a few occasions, which was that I could detect the thought forms occurring in her mind moments before she would talk about them.  This was the interesting part because I was able to anticipate something she was going to say before she said it.  Thought forms are created in the mind as the mind is thinking about a memory or is somehow creating an image in their minds and this can sometimes be detected in the aura.  For years I had never seen such a thing, even though I had read about this in the book Hands of Light by Barbara Brennan.  So As I looked at her, I noticed that I was seeing a hunched form that had a distinctive loping kind of gate, and at the time Goodall was talking about a chimp that was hooting because she knew that another chimp was on its way.  She described the way that I saw the form seconds before she mentioned it as it moved just as she described.  These appeared not as solid objects, but were more like vapor-like forms, like a smudge on a window….ghostly in a way, but clearly present in yet another.

The aura or halo has been depicted throughout the East and West. Below, a Buddha sits with a head and body halo.

So having said this, I encourage you to test what it is you see.  I also encourage you to learn how to relate, just as I did, to the colors and what they mean.  There are lots of simple and straight-forward charts on the colors and their meanings.  I have noted that in my experience that most of them are accurate for the most part.  However, I have noticed that some colors are different for me than they are in the charts.  And why? The reason is, I observe, as a result of my own feelings about these colors.  In my last installment in this two-part series I explained that auras really can’t be detected by the physical eye, but that, rather, they are the result of a rather miraculous facility the brain has, apparently, for being able to take nonphysical sensory data (psi data) and translate it into usable “physical sensory” information.  This is the root of what happens with all psi abilities I have noticed. Years ago I once interviewed a physiological psychologist who teaches and does research in this area and I asked him if the brain received signals that do not come from the physical senses, will it ever put that data into a sensory slot to make it seem as though it is coming from one of the senses?  “Oh yes, most certainly!” was his reply.  However, even though this all sounds like one big trick of the brain, it is based in real phenomenon that is being picked up on.  Sadly, it is not something that scientists have troubled themselves with looking into all that much. It has been considered a fringe subject, and no one wants that label, apparently.

The Last Supper

Red is most often equated with passion, love, and anger.  In my experience I hardly ever see red in people because I have a problem believing that anger and love can be described by the same color.  Instead, love often comes through as an intensity of a lighter more spiritual color (for me).

Orange- has always been related to anguish and sadness, as well as subsumed anger.  I have only seen orange on two occasions.  One person had been in a bad fight with his son an hour before and the other person was recounting their experience in a Nazi death camp.  I have seen orange as physical pain, but most often it is only a tinge of it.  Your results may vary.

Yellow – this color has always represented what I call the middle of the road type of energy.  It is often detected in auras as a very common color for many people.  it has a relationship to mental energy and being in the head. This tends toward positive energy and is a vibrant color that can be deep or light depending on the concentration and focus within that range.

Green – this has always had a double meaning and is at once spiritual and rooted in the here and now, for the most part, which also makes it a healing energy.

Blue – a spiritual color. This often relates to a strong commitment to what you are doing, that you feel your work or your state of being is tied directly into a purpose.

Violet – this color is likewise spiritual, but with a strong influence of the intuitive.  Often people with this color will exhibit strong psychic abilities.

With the colors in hand, there are a number of different wrinkles that add an incredible amount of variation into the mix.  First, there is the intensity of the color, which I would call brightness.  This is how powerfully focused a person is.  Sometimes a strong color will mean a person is really focused in what the color means, but this can also mean that the person’s energy is simply very strong.  You can detect which is which by observing the person and how they speak to determine which this likely is. I have seen some people whose colors are amazingly light….like a very very faint ice-blue, for example, without a lot of saturation (concentration of color).  Often, this can reveal that the thoughts and feelings are not well focused.  In some cases, it can reveal an other-worldy kind of focus.  How the person is expressing themselves verbally will most often tell the tale if you listen long enough.

Another wrinkle is the size of the aura. For some people, the inner aura can be very compact and located close to the body.  This often is a strong local focus in the self and the body.  In some cases, the aura can be very large, in which case the person has not only a lot of energy, but a strong sense of presence.  This type of person is NOT a wallflower (usually).  Now having said that, you can get someone with a very strong aura like this who is very quiet.  Now what do you think that means

The other wrinkle is how the aura will shift and change from moment to moment. Does a person’s color change on a dime, or does it stay constant?  This says a lot about a person.
Some are like rocks while some are like kaleidoscopes.

In the image below, Ganesh is shown with the nimbus or aura around his head. This image comes very close to how the part of the aura appears that is closest to the body. There is normally lighter misty color that then surrounds the body, extending outward to about three to four feet.

The other wrinkle are what I call localized effects that can be striations in the aura such as intense beams of light in certain parts of the aura as well as little bursts of light that look almost like stars.  These bursts behave a lot like little crystalized nodules of light that fly off from the aura or float for a few brief seconds before dissipating.  These are, I observe, the result of intense thought and feeling, and can be determined which they are based on the colors they are associated with and what parts of the body they are coming from (feeling may be more in the body while thinking may be nearer to the head for example).

The aura, contrary to the chart above, is not seen as a rainbow. The “rainbow body” is usually only detected in people who have released a lot of suppressed emotional energy. The aura is lighter than depicted above. If I saw an aura as depicted in the image to the right, I would expect mental illness or physical illness.

Yet ANOTHER wrinkle are auras that are divided into multiple color zones.  One side of the body can have one color while the other side has yet another.  Not always, but often I have noted that when this happens, the person is feeling out of balance somehow.  this shows up as one side being one color and the other being another color. In other cases I have seen much more localized areas that go from one color to another.  In this case, thought and emotional energy, as well as physical energy is swirling and changing.

Taking all of this in as a whole while looking at the aura will provide you with a pretty broad world of possibility in what an aura can communicate.  Auras are highly personal in how they are from person to person, and this is important to note as you look at people.  I knew one person who never deviated from the base-line color that he had around his body the whole time I knew him except for one instance. And having said this, I have seen people whose “baseline” is to be a world of swirling changing energy.

I once had a teacher whose aura would do this really wild thing, which was so very much about who he was.  I never saw it in quite the same way with anyone else.  His aura was like a capacitor. Do you know what a capacitor is in electronics?  Well, if you don’t, a capacitor will draw energy, store it, and then release it suddenly after a given amount of time.  My teacher would have this aura that would grow in size in a sphere shape and then it would build in brilliance for a few seconds and then as he would say something, a thought in his head seconds before, his aura would flash brightly, after which it would then dim down until he got to his next idea.  What he was doing, I realized, was the WAY that he experienced his thoughts, which was like a flash of realization….moment to moment, though.  He was the kind of person who didn’t always know what he was going to say next, and was always in that moment of working it through mentally, and the moment that he realized HOW he was going to say what he was going to say, there would come this flash! It was at first disconcerting to see, but I came to realize that this was a peculiarity with how his own thinking went.

Now I have also seen similar flashes, many actually, in the aura, and they are often associated with a person thinking and then figuring out what they are about to say next, so this type of flashing can, in my own experience, be tied to seeing a person’s thought process unfold before me.  In fact, it is phenomenon like this that has helped me to understand how some people think and how they link language with the thoughts that they are thinking.  People who are very visual will often wind up with images passing through the aura almost like a kind of etheric television displaying their thoughts in a ghost-like form.  If you watch, you will often see that the flash comes just before the words come out.  In this way you can see how the aura will show you how the person is handling their thoughts, the character of how they think or process information.

Now occasionally, and only on a few cases have I seen dark colored auras.  This has been very rare. However, in one case, I saw a man who had a dark aura with very strange color patterns in it.  Instead of the colors being bright and light, they were…metallic in character.  I learned later that this person was on anti-psychotic medication for some issues he had with mental illness.  I was lucky in this case because I knew to steer clear of him based on what I had seen.

The aura can change throughout the body, from head to toe.  When this happens, you have to be able to intuit what the reasoning is for this.  Is it because of a weakness in one part of the physical body?  Subsumed emotion?  Perhaps blocked prana flow?  Any of these and more might be the culprit, so it is important to continue to view in order to tease out the reason behind what it is that you are seeing.  Being able to determine what “body” the energy is from is a studied ability.  This is not always easy to do, and it is best that you allow your own intuition and experience rule the day.

There are about five different bodies that are expressed in the aura. This is interesting because the Hindu describe five “koshas” a term that means sheath or layer, which means that they conceptualize all of our different aspects as layers or dimensional aspects in the energy body and consciousness and it shows up as these five layers.  In fact each chakra has five dimensional aspects that correspond to each of them. Okay, so the layers and what they are….

These five layers are the (1) emotional body, the (2) mental body, the (3) physical body, the (4) astral/soul body, and the (5) pranic or energy body itself.  All these energies go to form a matrix that make up who you are at any given moment.  Most often I have found that the energy that is tightly focused to the body IS connected to the physical body.  Again, you have to watch and observe, because sometimes this is not always the case! Sometimes when ideas or feeling are very pressing in the moment, I have seen this energy come to the fore and express itself close to the body when it most often plays through the aura more from a distance from the physical body itself.  I know that this all may sound dizzyingly complex, but in time you WILL be able to intuitively tease out which is which.  Experience will also be your guide in the same way that it was for me, but its good to take mental notes and then to also ask questions of your subject.  I recommend having numerous people who would like their aura to be read by you in exchange for communicating to you what it is that they are feeling so that you can learn to calibrate what it is you are seeing with what the person is revealing.  Remember; you are actually feeling all of this deeper down, so if you can learn to forge a good relationship with the part of you that feels (this is not to be confused with emotion….this is your inner sensitivity, which is a different thing).

Still yet another wrinkle in this is how far out you can detect the aura.  How far can you see outward from the aura?  In the beginning you might only see energy close to the body.  In time, though, you may learn to see further and further away from the body.  This tends to get into the subtle or astral body and leads into issues connected to the soul.  The more accute your sensing becomes, the further outward you will most often be able to see.  Also, there are some people whose energy goes beyond ones ability to even see.  Many years ago, about the first year I was seeing auras, I had the opportunity to see a native American healer speak at a nearby college. My friend and I went to see him and we both “tuned in” to see what his energy looked like.  And we both saw the strangest thing; he had no color at all!  In fact, his energy was more like non-colored lines of force that I had seen in natural objects, but not in people.  Not only this, but his energy would build and then it would drop back….it was doing this pulsing thing the whole time he was speaking.  It was as though he was a channel for some energy that was itself on the very edge of our ability to detect.  This man had been involved in some important healing work and was able to draw physical sickness out of a person in a way that appeared rather miraculous to us at the time.

It is possible that when you first start seeing the aura that you do not detect color.  This sometimes is the case for some people.  In this case, I think it is instructive to allow yourself to open up more to let the color in.  I know how this sounds, but you are not dealing with something thought-based but something that is all about feeling….and you most certainly can and do feel auras first and foremost.  As you look at the aura ask yourself where is the color?  Ask yourself to show the color and then wait.  Keep looking, keep observing, and be patient.  The matter is one of tuning in.

If you are unable to see the aura well using the methods I showed you in the first installment, I will tell you about how I first began to see auras, because I think it is helpful in understanding just how much this does not have to do with what you think or anything in your head.

I was late for class.  I had been working in my room and I had to sprint clear across campus to get to class before the bell tolled and I was late.  My teacher had always said that if you are late, don’t bother coming.  He often dismissed students who came in only a minute late to class.  So I was chugging away and running as fast as I could. I sped past the dorms and then the library and then the chapel. I was about ready to feel like I was going to faint when I rounded the steps up to the Art building.  I felt like I was being deprived of oxygen.  Everything I was doing was focused on getting enough oxygen back into my body so I could walk into the classroom. I made it to class on time and as I walked up the steps, I breathed very deeply so I would not be huffing and puffing in class.  What happened during this experience was I was suddenly focused in my body, not in my head.  A shift had happened. It was just enough to bring energy into focus for the first time.  And that was it: I was using my body, not my mind, to FEEL this energy.  And what I know is that when I tune into auras, I feel as though my whole body, my own energy body, is actually the thing that is picking this all up.  I have often felt as though I had this satellite dish in my solar plexus that picks all of this up.  “What does your gut say?” is an apt term to use here.  The idea is that we do not use our minds, we are using the whole of our own energy field to detect other fields like our own around us.

Now I tell you this story partly because it could help you in developing another way to see auras that is based in the mechanics of seeing.  Maybe you might want to work out with some heavy cardio and then see what you see.  Get out of your head and  get into your body.  FEEL.  The other reason I am telling you this is because I told a friend of mine about my aura experience and about a year later he told me the story of a friend of his who also started to see auras and she had told him that she had been running across campus, too.  However, my friend was at a school in Virginia while I was at a school in another state.  There was NO WAY for the woman who started seeing them to have known about my story at all.  I think we both hit upon the same trigger, which is strong exercise to root you in the awareness of the body.  The level of exertion I had was such that I was breathing heavily and I felt as though my heart beat was pounding in my chest, the whole of my body, and also my eyes.  I was completely focused in my body.  So there is that important bit of information for you!

Walter Kilner wrote a book entitled The Human Aura.  It is available from Amazon and while it is not a psychic review of the aura, but rather one that involved the use of sensitizing screens made up of cyanin for seeing the aura, a lot of the shapes and issues he saw while doing his work as a doctor is accurate for anyone who wants more insight. he method that Kilner used was to, perhaps, extend his visual acuity into the range where auras begin to be seen through a sensitizing process.  I suspect that some of Kilner’s observations may have also been of a psi nature mixed with his screen method.  Its an older book, perhaps from the 40’s or so, but is relevant for anyone who wants to know more. There is not a huge amount of information out there on this aside from the now-popular aura photography (which I can’t speak to since I am not familiar enough with it—it may be accurate but it appears to use a different method with different results that are at variance with the color schemes I see naturally).

Djwal Kuhl, who, as I recall, was the name of an ascended master who channeled the book some years ago has a book about the aura also.  My memory is that it is less about mechanics and more about issues related to clearing ones own aura and doing spiritual work (which may in fact be helpful).

The benefit of using your inner sensing to see auras is that in healing work you can keep some energies from becoming entangled in your own.  However, when doing healing work, it is important to realize that the healer should themselves be healed before embarking on healing work or else the imprint of healer or patient can be made.  This is where the healer must work carefully and consciously. if you have an issue that you have not healed, you will often find that you have patients who come to you with the same issue or a related issue. These will also change as you do healing work.  This is based on discussions I have had with other healers.  The law of attraction at work.  So it is helpful to get as clear as you can to be as helpful wen working with energy healing.  The more healed you are, the more neutral you will be and the more effective you will be.

One thing that is possible is that you can detect illness before it manifests in the body.  You can see conditioned that involved blocked energy that if you do healing work, you can more directly address quickly by looking at the aura.  I once knew a doctor who used his ability to see the aura as a prelude to his own exam of his patients.  He never let them know that he saw the aura, but it helped him to more clearly understand the root of the problem.  Unfortunately, in our present day, we think that the answer often lies in popping a pill.  The benefit for seeing energy is that sometimes when it comes to physical problems you can often detect that the problem where the person is identifying as the point of trouble or pain is actually located in another part of the body and that this is creating a “cascade” of other symptoms.  This can often happen with the spine and legs.  Pain in the lower back can sometimes show up in the knees or feet, or even in the shoulders depending on the type of imbalance.  Knowing this can clue you in much more quickly than a “hunt and peck” method.

As I sit here, I am laying back and looking at the energy in my hands and I realize that my own aura has changed over time.  I see now how there is a rainbow of colors that come out of my fingertips and that this relates to something having to do with the flow of prana in my body. I see how two of my fingers are more strongly charged with energy and that these fingers also correspond, interestingly, with the active fingers with meridian lines as described in Chinese medicine, for example. I also see how an emotional issue has effected one side of my body today and it has not yet cleared up in my right hand.  As a result, I focus energy into that part of my body in order to clear up the blocked energy which is just my holding back some emotion.  As I do a simple breathing exercise I can see how the energy comes back into my body since breathing always helps me to ground myself in the body as well as relax me. As I do this, I see how on one side of the opposite hand, there is a strong glow of violet color, which shows that I am tapping into my own intuitive power and my inner senses.  My physical health is excellent as the brilliance of my energy shows.  My color is a changing force-field that adapts to the needs of the moment.  Perfect.

The aura is often described as electromagnetic in nature.  I think that it is certainly this as we have a low level of electricity flowing through us all the time. But prana is a still-finer energy vibration that electricity, and it is this finer energy that shows up along with the field of physical energy.  Prana is itself the energy that records and shows all other energies.  I say this because I observe that it is through prana that all other energies get recorded into the vast field of energy that exists all around us and the planet at any given time.

Beyond this is also energies in nature, in plants and animals and in objects.  Sometimes we leave some of our energy behind us in things.  Some years ago I saw the most amazing thing happening with a tree in my yard.  This took place at night and I had never seen anything like this before, which was that I saw thousands of very fine points of light that were flowing out of the tree and into the night air.  As I watched this I asked myself what on earth this was.  The simple answer was that the tree was “breathing” out energy that it built up during the day and needed to release at night.  I had simply never been able to detect this type of energy before.  I had seen fields around trees and animals, but nothing like this before. The whole earth itself is a living biosphere full of all kinds of energy.  We all exist like fish exist in a sea.  We share it together.  We feel it all together, even when we are unaware or focused in other directions.  Sometimes, when you become adept at picking up on energy in this way, open your mind to the world mind, to the body of the world and feel into that rich sphere of awareness and see what there is for you to see and know.  This is YOUR Gaia.  This is your cradle of life.  What does it mean for you?  What does its energy tell you beyond the mirror of your own thoughts?

Seeing the aura can provide you with a wealth of information that can help you a lot in your life.  You can detect emotional and mental issues pretty quickly in the aura.  It can give you perspective and it can help you a lot in your own inner work by showing you that yes, we are multidimensional beings and yes, energy is a real thing.  It can bring new perspective and it can inoculate you against the ignorance of a strict physicaly-oriented view of the world.

I wanted to share this article that has just gone up on my sister site Divine Alignment about leg chakras and developing a keener awareness of subtle energy.  Enjoy!
