Over the course of my awakening my body has had a habit of expressing itself as kundalini has unfolded. I have up until this point not posted the pictures from these curious effects, although I wrote about them a few years ago. Since then, my reservations about publicly documenting this phenomen have subsided significantly. Instead of keeping them to myself, I am making them available not as novelty, but to aid both in a broader understanding of the phenomenon, as well as to assist those who may have been similarly affected. It might also serve to calm concerns about other symptoms of awakening, too, which is a very regular occurance since search terms are a part of the stats that I see here on WTI. I put this here for broadening awareness and understanding.
In my reading about the symptoms of awakening, having physical manifestations of awakening appear to be uncommon. They are not unheard of, though. U.G. Krishnamurti (that Krishnamurti…there were two of them sharing a similar experience but both were very different from each other), for example, described how during a certain phase of the awakening of kundalini he had a series of physical effects that were witnessed by others. There were swellings of the skin, his neck flared out in a hood-like effect people described as like a cobra. In one case, he developed a breast on his yin and Shakti side of his body (left). (1)
A Shared Experience
On my other blog, Divine Alignment, which is on the blogspot platform, I wrote about my experience a few years ago and someone wrote to comment that she had had a similar experience that involved the same shaped mark as my own, which was a crescent shaped burn that appeared out of nowhere and then quickly faded once it was noticed. What is interesting here to me is that her mark was close to her heart, she described it as being on her right shoulder. When I think about the energetic polarities of the masculine and feminine, the root in the male is polarized positively (transmittive) while the male heart is negatively charged (receptive). The energetic circuit for the woman is exactly the opposite. I have often wondered if what she and I experienced was part of the same spectrum of experience, but that hers would naturally manifest at a transmittive center along the torso like mine, except in reverse. In the case of the person who had searched the web and had found my post, she explained that she had been practicing a projection technique in order to have an OOBE. While her experience was not couched in a kundalini experience, OOBE’s are themselves part of a range of human experience that can put a person in touch with divine energetics and the energy of consciousness. Both of us appeared to be in the early stages of a spiritual process.
The first mark, which came just prior to the full rise of kundalini, appeared after I awoke one morning in the early Spring of 2007. What was so curious about the burn mark was its position and the fact that I had not had any contact with anything hot that could have caused the burn. This mark lasted for about three days and faded away. It left no scar, and at no point did it ever hurt or behave as a normal burn would. I realized that if I had gotten a burn like the mark on my skin, I would have been in pain for a few days and the scar would have scabbed over after several more days. It simply made no sense, all things being equal.
I have thought about this phenomenon and what I am most certain of is that whenever there is strong psychological material that is rising to the surface of feeling or thought, the body can manifest a whole range of effects. I was put in mind of what Christian saints would experience in ecstatic experiences which most often would happen while in a trance state while experiencing visions of Jesus or Mary, for example. This phenomenon is known as stigmata. While many stories about stigmata strike some as self-inflicted, there have been some cases of stigmata where witnesses saw the marks manifest before them. As strange as all of this may seem, I think that it is not so unusual given the ability of the body to manifest thought very well. Take for example how subjects placed in a deep hypnotic trance will, when told they are being touched by a red hot poker, will produce welts and blisters moments after they are touched lightly with a pencil and believe that the pencil is in fact just what they are being told it is.
The Marks
I have decided to make these images available in the event that anyone else out there has found themselves similarly affected. And for those who have not gone through this, it can serve to illustrate the broad range of what can happen in awakening. The following photo is of the burn mark on my right leg near my hip. There were several photos taken of this burn over a period of a few days. It is worth pointing out that the burn had a center that was brighter than its surrounding, if you will notice, there is a lighter band surrounding a redder center. When I get burned normally, the object tends to leave a fairly uniform burn of the skin across its surface. This burn is almost more in line with a radiant burn rather than contact with an object directly on the skin. A closeup of the same burn follows.

I have these too. Started reflexology and exploring energy work just over a year ago. I have a heart shape on each palm which has been there for many months – does not change, does not go away and splits more recently on the bottom of my feet – never had before. I observe, keep clean, and clear my energy.

So your marks have remained as scars? I have seen marks that were quite large, others the size of a dime (on me)…but the shape of the circle on my trunk and crescent on my hip (and on a reader who sent me his pics) were eerily similar. The movement of a lot of energy from legs and arms into the trunk or torso? I wish we knew more about these because they suggest symptoms of a real phenomenon!

Hi, I had something similar happen to me. I was searching the internet to find accounts similar to my own and was happy to find yours here, so thanks for sharing.
I had an intense kundalini awakening during 2012 and had an experience of stigmata, where my fingertips started bleeding and blood also rose to my palms, and blood broke through the skin on my left hip. It was during an ecstatic state as I lay on my bed with the sun coming in and felt connected with gaia, as well as intense feeling of suffering and trauma of the earth. This experience was a culminating point of several months of kundalini activity, with typical experiences of spontaneous postures, pain, clearing away past traumas, ecstatic connection and spiritual revelations.
I haven’t shared this with many people (I mentioned it to my mum and she was very anxious and concerned, but then we never spoke of it again. I think she doesn’t want to think about it!). I have held back on sharing it with anyone because I thought people would either not believe me, or worse, would believe me and make too much of it, when really it was a personal experience and I’m not seeking to impress anyone or convince anyone to believe anything they’re not comfortable with. I am, however, happy to share so others may read it and not feel alone if they’ve experienced something similar.
I’ve realised now that it’s up to me to interpret this event. How I’m standing with it now is that it was an intense spiritual, transpersonal experience, from which I gained many spiritual insights personal to me and my path, as well as a sense of connection with the living breathing earth. It may well be a psychokinetic phenomenon as you mentioned in your previous post. It’s interesting to consider the physiological manifestations of awakening, but of course the real work is what is happening on the inside!

Hi, I get one on my nose! Like two days ago. I also have the biggest pain/pressure on my head near/under nose when i meditate or actually even when i go to sleap. My boby is dancing all the time side to side when i relax, and when my head is on the pillow, it cant move like my energy wants, so i get pain/pressure. Or thats what i think…
Wow, Tiina. Can you tell me how it has behaved? Did it show up and how long did it last? Did it have a shape to it, or anything that you have noticed about its behavior? I am asking in the hopes of building as much of a knowledge base of this type of phenomenon.
Yes, a lot of these come or seem to come from sudden rises in the energy or surges and they appear to create a burn-like effect. So far, one thing that I have noticed is that they tend to happen on parts of the body where the energy seems to make a sudden turn, like at the hips, the shoulders (arms and legs) and yours is on the nose, another appendage.
I am forgetting now which Krishnamurti it was (there were two-not related to each other), perhaps it was Jiddu who wrote in his journal which he published about the difficulty he was having with pressure from the energy in his head. It looked like to me that he was experiencing resistance in his own consciousness to a certain state of mind that might have been causing it….it culminated in his reaching a state he called “the declutched” state where for a time he had trouble being able to think….everything kind of went silent in his head.
My intuitive take on his account was that it was similar to what I experienced except I didn’t have the block in my head and thus no pressure or feeling of resistance. After I reached that energy state, everything was calm, smooth, quiet. Things got easier, too.
Movement, physical movement, often helps. Often people will experience kriyas, those spontaneous movements because of the way the energy wants to move. I can remember once while working I felt all this energy wanting to move in my neck and head and my head just flew back suddenly and as it did, I felt this marvelous sense of release….as if some part of me was surrendering to the will of the energy itself. I felt bliss as a result. I had not up to that point ever experienced kriyas, but there it was. It’s a thing! But in the same way you can just listen to the energy and feel deeply and ask it what it wants to do, just open your mind to it and your heart (especially), be like a kid at play and try not to feel self conscious….and it might show you how to move to help with this energy. Also, freeflowing movement might help….moving your neck and head around. It may sound a little crazy, but movement does help a lot with these blocks!

I do yoga everyday to move my body and ofcource energy. Actually i still have that mark on my nose and i get a new one on my right leg. Bought have same size and shape (kind off half moon).
Tiina! So the marks from me and another guy in Japan who sent me pictures of his were all crescents! I had the crescent on my hip, which was a crescent shape (if I recall I include a picture of it). Would you be willing to share a picture of it? If not, could you describe its size and exactly where on your leg it is? I am trying to gather info on this phenomenon for others. I have gotten a number of inquiries about this on this and another blog over the last few years from people trying to understand what is up with this and having examples as extra data points is very helpful. Anything you are willing to share would be fabulous.
So have you had any movement of energy or anything that you can identify as anything out of the unusual related to the marks? Have you had a rising of the energy? Also, you say you got the mark on your nose. How much later did you get the mark on your leg? I know: questions questions!
